Street Racing with attitude is how Midway is billing their new extreme driving game, Nitrocity. Your goal is to become the “King of the Streets” by racing, gambling, and wooing the ladies.

- Cities to race in: San Francisco, New York, and Los Angeles

- Customizable cars

- 15 rivals including the Police

- All the action takes place at night

Gameplay:

Nitrocity sounds like a game based in the world of the movie “Fast and the Furious”. Fast reckless driving, with high stakes gambling, hot women, and high speed police chases.

According to Helen Sheeler, Midway’s Vice President of Marketing, “Nitrocity is the ‘bad boy’ of racing videogames. A high speed, high-stakes illegal street racing game with tricked-out cars and varied styles of racing, Nitrocity takes gamers on a nonstop thrill ride.”

Unfortunately this was not playable at the Midway Gamers’ Day, and there’s not a lot known about the specifics or game mechanics of Nitrocity. Outside of the above, what is known is that if the police bust you, you have to pay fines. If you wreck your car, you’ll have to pay to have it fixed. It’s a good bet that you’ll race cars, bet on your own races, outrun the police, and avoid pedestrians and traffic, all at the same time. You get money for winning races, and therefore can buy new parts to upgrade your existing vehicle, or get the opportunity to buy or win new vehicles. In doing so the chicks fall to their knees and bring you pizza and beer, give you hours of feet massages, and beckon your every whim. Well maybe that’s taking it a bit far, but you get the picture.

A possible spin-off of Acclaim’s Burnout could be very appealing. Hopefully you’ll be able to tear through a mall like in the movie Blues Brothers. Heck, even Jake and Elwood could drive the women mad.

Nitrocity is due out in the first part of 2003.
