See a mystical world through the eyes of a powerful warlock

Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain is an ambitious DS RPG developed by Aspyr Games. It is based on the series of books by English writers Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson. The first chapter of the series serves as the backbone for Firetop Mountain. The plot of the game will be that of vengeance and players guide their characters through the dangerous world of Firetop Keep.

The game will be a first person RPG, one that promises more than 10 hours of gameplay. The standards of the genre will be present. Before taking on the evils of the world players can choose from three available classes; mage, warrior and assassin. Each one of these classes has their own set of skills and stats. Players can explores caves and dungeons, battle monsters and discover treasure. Players can brave these dangers by equipping hundreds of weapons and armor pieces, many which are rare and can be discovered during the adventure.

Magic will also be pivotal in the quest. The main character can learn many spells and use them in the most heated of battles. Monsters will also bring their skills, magic and attack. Finally, Firetop Mountain promises to deliver in-depth NPC interaction, where clues as to where to go next can be given. There will be many quests to experience. These can be accessed through a journal players carry throughout the adventure.

Firetop Mountain will be controlled using both the D-Pad and the DS's touch screen. Equipping and using items is done by using simple drag and drop mechanics with the touch screen. The world of Firetop Mountain will be fully rendered in 3D, and will feature many characters on screen.

Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain is set for release October 2009.

IIRC, from an interview posted on Gonintendo not so long ago from elsewhere----the 3 archetype class choice style is gone in recent times dev wise and replaced with you starting with a character from scratch and mixing and matching as you please from the onset.

So looking forward to this game.
