...even though he neither plays guitar nor is a legend...

LEGENDARY POISON FRONTMAN BRET MICHAELS TO APPEAR IN GUITAR HERO III: LEGENDS OF ROCK

SUNNYVALE, CA - August 16, 2007 - Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) today announced that legendary Poison front man and "Rock of Love" star Bret Michaels will appear as a lead vocalist character in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, providing Guitar Heroes the chance to shred with the music icon.

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock will feature the song "Talk Dirty to Me," as made famous by Poison, as well as a master track from the Bret Michaels Band, "Go That Far."

When players shred to either track, an animated replica of Bret Michaels appears as the lead vocalist. Bret Michaels participated in a motion capture session to record his signature moves for the game. With full body, facial and clothing scans, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock developer Neversoft was able to create an authentic in-game character.

"When Activision asked me to do this, I was honored...are you kidding me? This game totally rocks!" said Michaels, star of VH1's top rated show, Rock of Love with Bret Michaels. "I gave them my signature moves, basically did my thing and they captured it. It was really cool."

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, published by RedOctane® and developed by Neversoft, is rated T for Teen by the ESRB and will be available this October.

Talkback

Slash was a great choice... why now tarnish the game with this loser? This reeks of marketing opportunity -- Michaels has a VH1 "reality" show and seems to be trying to relaunch his career, and his marketing people thought an appearance in GH3 would do the trick. EVEN THOUGH HE DOESN'T EVEN PLAY GUITAR. And even though Poison was a crappy band. This is the kind of junk I would have expected in the 80s Encore edition that just came out, but not in the main series. If Activision is going to get serious about this "Legends of Rock" theme, they need to come back next time with a true heavy hitter like David Gilmour, Santana, Eddie Van Halen...you know, one of the true living legends who actually plays frickin' guitar!

I couldn't agree more. Micheals is a useless addition to this game and a crappy musician for a crappy band. Virtually anybody else would've been a better choice.

Having a lead singer who doesn't play guitar makes no sense. Even if someone cool like Rob Halford was picked it wouldn't fit because he doesn't play guitar.

I didn't even know who Bret Michaels was by name and I usually know stuff like that. Shows how much I care about Poison. Bret Michaels sounds like a combo of wrestlers Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels and actually a Dragon Ball Z style merging of those two would be pretty cool... but not for Guitar Hero.

MysticGohanAugust 16, 2007

Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels should not even be in the same sentence, I have nothing but respect for Bret, Shawn however is a disgrace.

Well they finally got a woman in the game, albeit an ugly, bloated one.

Oh wait...

Sir_StabbalotAugust 16, 2007

...Why'd they add this guy in?

"Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels should not even be in the same sentence, I have nothing but respect for Bret, Shawn however is a disgrace."

What about "the main event of Wrestlemania XII was Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels"? It's a factual statement and both are in the same sentence! You can't change history! HA HA HA HA!!

Oh and to stay on topic, Poison sucks. face-icon-small-wink.gif

Jonny should sing "Every Rose has a Thorn" on the next RFN podcast.

Smoke39August 16, 2007

I like Poison. ): But Talk Dirty to Me is a boring song.

Instead of Bret Michaels, they should've had Carla and Ted from "Scrubs" sing the song while you play. :-P

Yeah we wouldn't want this to seem like a novelty gimmick game.

Alright, Bret's only going to be the vocalist on some songs, so he's not a boss. Slash is one of the bosses, and another will be fictional, with only one undecided slot left.

Who will it be?

Jimi Hendrix?
Buckethead?
Steve Vai?
Any of the other hundred eligible guitarists?

I don't know...

Needs more GWAR. (Specifically, Oderus Urungus)

Quote

According to GWAR mythos, Oderus Urungus is 28 million years old, and was assembled on a planet called Scumdogia in "Syntho Womb 5" after pieces of his moldy war frame were found scattered throughout the Galaxy. According to interviews, Oderus' Father was a supercomputer, and his mother was a petri dish. It is suggested in the lyrics of "Fire In The Loins" (from RagNaRok) that Slymenstra Hymen is his sister, but this is never fully explained.
Com'on ... how could you not love that?

It should be like Soul Caliber 2, and have a different character for each system.

On Wii, it should be Samus.

Ha, I should have added Oderus to the list. How could I miss him? XD

...That might work. Link might be a better choice, as he's got some musical talent. But who'd be Sony's?

vuduAugust 17, 2007

Heihachi

Use Zora Link from Majora's Mask. He plays guitar and everything. face-icon-small-smile.gif

Why stop there? Why not put the entire lineup from The Indigo-Go's in Rock Band?

They won't do anyone who isn't living. In a perfect world, the third boss would be Robert Randolph or Trey Anastasio. But a more likely (and still kinda cool) possibility is Eddie Van Halen, since they are going on tour and trying to make a comeback.
