Yeah, the Will Ferrell movie.

ELF TO SPEND THE HOLIDAYS ON

NINTENDO'S GAME BOY® ADVANCE FROM CRAVE

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - September 23, 2004 - There is an Elf coming to Game

Boy® Advance and his name is Buddy! Crave Entertainment, a leading publisher

of videogames, announced today that they will release a handheld game based

on the hit movie "ELF" from New Line Cinema. The Game Boy® Advance version

of "ELF" will be released in November 2004 to coincide with the release of

the infinifilm™ DVD and VHS version of the movie from New Line Home

Entertainment on November 16, 2004.

"One of our key strategies at Crave is to select quality intellectual

properties and then match them with the right platform and genre of gaming,"

commented Vincent Bitetti, president of Crave Entertainment. "We are very

pleased to be working with New Line Cinema to bring the magic of the movie

'ELF' to the Game Boy® Advance."

"We believe 'Elf' will be one of this holiday season's biggest DVD successes

and that children will truly enjoy this game inspired by the film," added

David Imhoff, Senior Executive Vice President, Worldwide Licensing and

Merchandising.

Developed by Human Soft, ELF for Game Boy® Advance brings all of the fun

and holiday cheer of the hit movie. The ELF game features:

· 10 action-packed missions following the "ELF" movie storyline

· Three mini-games themed in elf motifs

holidays

Scheduled for release in November 2004, ELF will be available for the Game

Boy® Advance with a MSRP of $19.99.

When "five languages" is one of the key selling points you know the game is going to blow.

Seriously though a game based on Elf?! What the hell?

Bill AurionSeptember 23, 2004

Oh geez, bad games come out of good movie licenses, but a game coming out of a BAD license? I see where there is going...

PaleMike Gamin, Contributing EditorSeptember 23, 2004

a good game? =P

MaleficentOgreSeptember 23, 2004

Elf is one of the funniest movies of the past five or six years. The game will in no way come close to the brilliance that was elf. Next thing you know we'll get an anchorman game.

Will Ferrell makes me puke....

LedgehammerousSeptember 23, 2004

Will would be a lot funnier if he didn't play the same character in every single movie.

Stop hating man, Will Ferrell is hilarious. You could say the whole "he plays the same character in every movie" about tons of actors...Adam Sandler (Happy Gilmore, Waterboy, Little Nicky), Robert DeNiro (plays a gangster in almost every movie), Mike Myers (how many times has he done Austin Powers or the scottish guy), heck even Brad Pitt (guy plays a psycho or someone that "goes crazy" in a whole slew of movies - Kalifornia, Legends of the Fall, Seven, 12 Monkeys, Fight Club, etc). Will Ferrell does one thing well, and I can live with that.

An ELF game? I gotta see how they're going to work that.

I've never seen this Will farrel guy outside of the ad banners on PGC.
Anyway, we know the formula: GBA + Movie Franchise = Awful game.

I was afraid of being blasted by saying this, but now I can see I can hide behind you... face-icon-small-wink.gif

"Mike Myers (how many times has he done Austin Powers or the scottish guy)"

Aha, Mike Myers has done more than Austin Powers and Shrek, thank you very much...(Wayne's World, Dr. Seuss, So I Married an Axe Murderer)

Ian SaneSeptember 23, 2004

I forgot Mike Myers did Cat in the Hat. Thanks for reminding me why I don't like him anymore.

Much like how Star Wars is frozen in 1995 in my mind Mike Myers career is frozen after the first Austin Powers movie.

Getting back on topic who will actually buy this game? I mean seriously what sort of weirdo is going to like Elf so much that they would buy a GBA game based on it? It's not like there's this huge fanbase this game is targetting. This isn't even coinciding with the theatrical release which would have made much more sense.

Bartman3010September 23, 2004

Will Ferrel isnt as great as everyone makes him seem. I never saw Elf because I'm not a big fan of his work.

No, I've not even seen Anchorman.

AS for the game...its Home Improvement all over again. Just give Tim Allen a gun and send him on a collect-a-thon.

NinGurl69 *hugglesSeptember 23, 2004

The Cat in the Hat was just bad. It's Austin Powers trying to escape from a cat costume.

ruby_onixSeptember 23, 2004

Do you want to know what I thought when I read the headline?

Of course, I should've known better, and not gotten my hopes up. Crave makes "Lame American RPGs". There's no way they'd be involved in something as cool as a Dragon Knight remake.

NinGurl69 *hugglesSeptember 23, 2004

DRAGON KNIGHT 3 WAS FORKING AWESOME

Remember what the 7 dwarves did to Snow White?
REMEMBER WHAT YOU DID TO SNOW WHITE?!

Du_PelageSeptember 23, 2004

I only signed up to the forum to put in my 2 cents on this whole elf deal..

1) Will Ferrell isn't a great actor but he is a good one...
2)Maybe Crave isn't as stupied as we all think they are..Maybe just maybe there trying to get in good with New Line in order to get at some of there better licenses.
3) who doesn't want a new Friday the 13th game WOOT
4) Freddy Vs jason the game..

Crave isn't that stupied. mayeb we wont see the above games but i bet it does have something to do with other movie licenses.

After?!? You're weird.

Pelage: We're talking about GBA games, statistically there's a 100% chance it's going to suck.

Ian SaneSeptember 24, 2004

"After?!? You're weird."

By after I mean "right after" in that Austin Powers was the last good movie he made. So right after that film came out his career is frozen in my mind.

KDR_11kSeptember 24, 2004

I didn't like Austin Powers 1, either. Plain out not funny.

Infernal MonkeySeptember 25, 2004

See, usually crap games based on crap movies come out before the movie (See Catwoman.. well... here, at least) so that the hyped up kids will go mental and consume them all as they wait for the movie to open. But a crap game a year after the crap movie? Fail.
