Today Electronic Arts announced that the PS2 version of Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers has shipped to stores, and they also announced that GameCube and Xbox versions will be released sometime later this year. The previously announced GBA version will be released on November 12th.

Based upon the upcoming movie, which is subsequently based upon J.R.R. Tolkien's legendary book, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers follows the second leg of the broken Fellowship's journey. Gimli the Dwarf, Legolas the Elf, and Aragorn the Ranger confront massive Orc armies and confront Saruman, the evil wizard. The game mainly follows the exploits of these three heroes, and the Hobbits and other characters will take minor supporting roles. EA's game will also include music, voice acting, and trailers from the upcoming movie.
