PGC Goes to the Races!

by Jonathan Metts - October 20, 2001, 10:26 pm EDT

Like, we're going to the EA Sports 500, ok?

Alabama loves NASCAR. EA Sports also loves NASCAR. Now, through the magic of transitive logic, EA Sports has brought the gaming industry to one of the last places you'd ever expect to find it, and PGC is all up in this biootch.

This year's autumn Winston Cup race in Talladega, AL is the first of three years in which EA Sports will be the official sponsor. Thusly dubbed the EA Sports 500, the race will help promote EA's popular NASCAR titles for PS2 and Xbox...but perhaps more importantly, it is bringing the gaming industry's influence to a region that hasn't seen interest from the software-pushers since the Electronic Entertainment Expo moved from Atlanta to Los Angeles a few years ago.

In addition to sponsoring the race, EA Sports will have game demonstrations and other events set up for racefans. Planet GameCube is delighted to say that we will be attending the race (courtesy of EA Sports), and in addition to enjoying the race itself, you bet your ass that we'll be on the lookout for anything at the venue that might interest our readers. Still, you have to admit that it's gonna to be pretty special just being at the SuperSpeedway and realizing that a game company is behind it all!
