Full Midway support

We had a ton of Midway games on the N64. Looks we'll get the same treatment on the GameCube.

One of IGN Cube's mysterious sources recently confided that Midway has one development kit and is currently experimenting with the GameCube hardware.

Apparently, Midway didn't like this image, so they released a statement confirming their full GameCube support. "Midway is extremely excited about the GameCube. We have a long history of success publishing top-selling titles for Nintendo platforms, and we intend to be a leading third party publisher for GameCube." They didn't comment on the number of development kits they have (if any) or what games are in development.

Update: Max here, to give the skinny on the Midway front. Long-time Planet readers already know Midway has big things in the works for NGC. At E3 2000, Midway were kind enough to confirm to Planet that it has multiple titles in development for Nintendo's next system (which was still Dolphin back then). Considering this was months back, Midway certainly has more than a few NGC kits & many of these games are probably far along & could be available for launch.

What games can we expect? Midway has previously announced Artic Thunder, games from the Blitz series a game based on NBC's Gravity Games. Whether or not all of these are still in production is unknown. As for games that could make it (consider these rumors) are Mortal Kombat 5, a version and an all new Spy Hunter. That's just stuff we've heard about too, keep in mind Midway has many other cool franchises (like Ready 2 Rumble) that would be great additions to Nintendo's software library. We'll certainly know more of Midway's NGC plans at E3.
