Solid Snake to Black Ops: "Take this job and shove it!"

Hideo Kojima recently confirmed that he plans to end the Metal Gear series with Metal Gear Solid 2. Previous to this report, I’d seen Kojima comment that he would like to end the Metal Gear series and move onto something else, although he knows that people love MGS and want it to keep going. No more MGS is kind of sad but I think Hideo making MGS parts 3-10 would be an even bigger shame. Look at it this way, if Shiggy hadn’t gotten away from Mario, we never woulda got Zelda.

MGS2 is expected to hit Playstation 2 and X-Box and rumors that a version of Metal Gear will appear for GamCube have been flying around a long time. Whether or not it happens remains to be seen but it’s definitely worth hoping for—MGS2 is easily one of the most anticipated games worldwide.

I just have to say that MGS2 is gonna be Solid Snake’s swansong, it’d be a right crime if Snake didn’t “return to his roots” so to speak by appearing on a Nintendo system. OK, so I can (& usually do) say this about any classic NES game/character/franchise but Metal Gear was a classic and Metal Gear Solid was a masterpiece, establishing new standards while doing all kinds of justice to the original. If MGS2 is it for the series, then let’s hope Snake stops by NGC territory before riding off into the sunset.
