Four major presentations in 29 days. What we're saying is, the Switch is popular.

After the Smash Direct and two indie presentation, Nintendo has apparently cut the brake lines on the hype train.

A Nintendo Direct has been announced for 6 p.m. Eastern / 3 p.m. Pacific time on Thursday, September 6. The focus will be "around 35 minutes of information on upcoming Switch and Nintendo 3DS titles".

The Direct will be the fourth major presentation in 29 days for Nintendo; the Super Smash Bros. Direct on August 8, followed by the two Nindie-focused presentations on the 20th and 28th.

What's still in the pipeline for 3DS? Luigi's Mansion and Mario & Luigi?  Anything else?

I hope they finally explain the online service.

AdrockSeptember 05, 2018

At some point, Nintendo should have a presentation detailing Nintendo Switch Online. Right?

I expect a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Nintendo Direct in early October then maybe another one right before launch. Nintendo has been offering more details about the game about every two or three months.

Etrian Odyssey X.  But maybe you were meaning first-party-only titles.  Still, it got me thinking Persona Q2 is still yet to be released in Japan.  Is there *any* chance that sometime deep into 2019 even that game will be localized to the West?  Crazy to think 3DS games are still on the horizon.

We're already at the start of September, they've already telegraphed what we're getting (online services through an App, 20 NES games).  I wonder if they'd spend much time beyond the official start date, and detailing all 20 NES games and online functionality they'll offer in each.

Here we go 35 minutes!

Yeah, I think all that's left to detail about the online is the start date and the other ten NES games. They might go over how things like cloud saves will work.

I haven't been paying much attention, but if there's anything left to reveal about Super Mario Party then that could be featured. I feel like they may not show anything about Smash since that seems to get its own separate announcements. Maybe some more info on the Pokémon Let's Go games? I feel like they also have one more unannounced title for this year, perhaps a smaller digital-only one.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 3DS gets one more port / remake of a older game from Wii U or DS or something.

The only titles I could think of were first party, but you're right.  That's one more coming.  I just can't think of anything else, so they might announce something.

There could possibly be something Smash related.  The official announce trailer happened at the end of the Splatoon 2 DLC Direct, right?  But I think any character announcement would come in a Smash Direct so Sakurai could explain all the character details like he does; plus, it's been too soon since the last one.

Maybe some Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC on the way?

I wouldn't be surprised to get one unique character trailer shown in the Direct.  Sakurai said we'll know the full roster before launch and since the unique characters all get special CGI Trailers shown during Directs, it makes sense to have one shown tomorrow.

The last Smash Direct was almost a month ago and we got 2 unique characters and 3 Echos so I think it fits pretty well to have just one this time in a non-Smash dedicated Direct.  I wouldn't be surprised if this one involves whoever the new Pokemon character will be shown after the newest footage for Lets Go Pikachu/Evee, similar to how Inklings where revealed after the Splatoon 2 DLC.

As long as it’s free like Link’s Breath of the Wild alternate costume. Paid DLC on a Deluxe version of a game feels gross and weird. Having all the additional content was the entire point of these kinds of releases.

But like the E3 presentation, about 20 minutes of that will be dedicated to Smash. :laugh;

3DS - Possible announcements could be a port of the Dragon Quest 1, 2, or 3 games. They were all released in Japan only on 3DS. Perhaps a physical copy of all three BoxBoy games together and the BoxBoy Amiibo. Mindblowing with little chance of happening would be Touch Detective 3, Chibi-Robo 3 and/or Ace Attorney Investigations for the eShop. Surprise new upcoming release - a remake of Link's Awakening for both 3DS and Switch. Will Partners in Time be the M&L game to not get released for the 3DS or might it actually get a 3DS remake also? I could see an announcement about a special edition 3DS /2DS being released in a couple months for the holiday season. I think Japan had a couple nifty looking designed 2DS units that haven't been brought over to NA. My biggest worry: There will be an announcement about a change or end date of the 3DS's free online gameplay. Looking online, the upcoming 3DS games of 2018 are Luigi's Mansion, Yokai Watch Blasters (in 2 days!), Etrian Odyssey X, Treasurenauts and The Unlikely Legend of Rusty Pup so there's a chance these get some brief clips and firm release dates.

As for Switch and Smash Bros., I think a new trailer will probably be shown and that's it. There is still the possible "Spirits" mode to dive in to but another Smash Direct seems more likely to tackle that. With the XC2 DLC about to release, I could see another mention of that in this direct leading to a possible Smash reveal of Elma from XCX. Otherwise, Luigi Dude's suggestion of more Let's Go Pokemon information leading to a new pokemon for Smash reveal seems to make the most sense. At this point, that's the only hype I'm creating for myself in the Switch department so Nintendo's got the chance to really surprise me.

Oh wow I forgot about the XC2 DLC.  I've been thinking Elma might get in the game but thought Pokemon would get top billing since its newest game is only 2 months away.  It completely skipped my mind the XC2 DLC literally comes out this month.

So yeah, if Elma is going to be playable this is the most likely time she would be revealed.  If not her then I'm going back to my Pokemon pick.

Actually, I took a second look at the website for Nintendo Switch Online, and it has a vague mention of "special offers for members." What could those be? eShop discounts perhaps? Who knows, but that's one more detail yet to be revealed by the service.

10% off select purchases wowee.

KhushrenadaSeptember 05, 2018

If you do want it then I'll take it and then I'll have 20% off. Just 8 more people and my plan will be complete.

KhushrenadaSeptember 05, 2018

Uh-oh. Spoilers. It looks like the Smash reveal for tomorrow has already been leaked....

I’m not 100% sure, but that looks photoshopped.

nickmitchSeptember 05, 2018

I already heard it was Goku from a friend.  They're gonna show more of Dragon Ball FighterZ for Switch (DLC) and then show his Smash trailer.

steveySeptember 06, 2018

I hope there are a lot of 3DS announcements just to troll the haters.

Shorty McNostrilSeptember 06, 2018

Direct has been postponed due to earthquake in Hokkaido.

AdrockSeptember 06, 2018

I thought this was a joke at first. No, there really was an earthquake. Also, some Nintendo fans are hella bitter about the delay. To give this some perspective, the earthquake hit Hokkaido; Satoru Iwata was born in Sapporo, the largest city in Hokkaido. Even if this part wasn’t true, it’s just respectful. There’s more to life than Elma’s Super Smash Bros. debut trailer. I will never understand people. They’re the worst.
