In which the News Editor reaches his personal boiling point.

As mentioned back in October, the first downloads week of the new quarter features a lot of indie titles for North America. Six different games are releasing across the two systems before we account for the week's Virtual Console games. Among the highlights are the SDK Spriter app for Wii U - there's a demo available, and you can use it to create your own little sprites, perfect for the budding platformer makers. Also, a warning: The Meme Run developers are trying again. Let's see if this game makes it to the end of March. Edit January 15: Nope.

On the Virtual Console, it's Zapper week this week as three NES games that all used the N-Zap 89’s model launch – The Adventures of Bayou Billy, Wild Gunman (noted for its use of baby toys) and Hogan’s Alley, brother.

As previously promised, Europe gets New Super Mario Bros. Wii this week, but also grabs the demo for The Legend of Legacy (releasing next month in Europe by NIS America), and... Drill Dozer. Making its European debut, GameFreak's late era GBA platformer would already be in my cart if I could buy it... but first they came for Zero Mission, and I did not care, for I don't like Metroid. Then they came for Mario RPG, and I did not care, for I could play it in Wii mode. But then they came for Drill Dozer, and there was nobody left to speak for me.

Wii U, sorry.

A GBA Virtual Console wasn't feasible on 3DS because of the limited hardware, right? The Ambassador Program GBA games don't have the 3DS OS features available in the background as do true Virtual Console releases.

So... there's this New 3DS now, with super-duper better processors. Why the hell is there no GBA Virtual Console on New 3DS??? Does anyone know? I can't imagine that this updated framework can't emulate a 17Mhz ARM processor from 2001 in addition to running its normal operating system functions.
