Ganbarion went from action to fitness games.

Ganbarion, the team behind Pandora's Tower, is co-developing Wii Fit U according to the title screen shown at a recent demo.

Outside of a One Piece game due out in November, Ganbarion has not had any known developed games since Pandora's Tower, which launched in 2011 in Japan. The studio, created in 1999, also worked on the Jump Super Stars series and a variety of One Piece games. It is not known how long they have been working on Wii Fit U and if they have been there since the start of development. Their name did not appear on any early demo units from the game's first appearance at E3 2012.

Wii Fit U is releasing on the eShop as a month-long trial on November 1. If you buy the Fit Meter, available for $19.99 at retailers, you can turn that free trial into the full game. The retail bundle, coming in different bundles, including one with the game, a Balance Board and a Fit Meter, and one with just the game and a Fit Meter.

Well, at least this means less of EAD is being wasted on this

Will we get to feed meat to Wii Fit trainer?

This sounds like what I would make my team do in Game Dev Story.

Going from Pandora's Tower to Wii Fit is a completely flip-flop of target audiences.  But Nintendo seems to see their devs teams as indistinguishable cogs so this isn't surprising.  Pandora's Tower is the weakest of the rainfall games so at least they don't have Monolith working on non-gamer stuff.

CericOctober 04, 2013

Pandora being the weakest may be why they are working on Wii Fit U.

Irony of the whole thing is.  I probably wouldn't be getting Wii Fit U if it wasn't $20 with the meter...

I won't be getting Wii Fit at all.

See, there's this thing called a gym. Turns out that's a much better way to stay in shape than a little dinky balance board

Nintendo takes a studio that specializes in action games, and has them do as their follow-up...a fitness game. Yes, Nintendo! That's how you use your resources!  ::)

Seriously, this is the thread of logic that led to Nintendo tapping Monolith (an RPG developer) to make Disaster: Day of Crisis (a 3rd person quasi-rail shooter). That Disaster turned out to be stupidly awesome (Yes, I own an import copy. No, you can't have it.  :P: ) is a credit to the developer, but you'd think they'd have learned from the Disaster: Day of Crisis experiment.

I hope this developer uses this as an opportunity to stretch their creative muscles and learn a new type of game.

There is no creativity to be gained working on a fitness shovelware game.

Yeah, finding a creative new way to exercise would be a pretty big deal. :)

Hey now! This isn't some Rare developed Kinect title we are talking about here!

Yeah it was kind of a big deal back during the first one. ;)
