First Set of Fire Emblem 3DS DLC Revealed

Marth may not always fight for his friends, but he does headline the first set of DLC.

Nintendo has shed details on the first set of DLC for the 3DS's Fire Emblem: Awakening. The first round of DLC will feature classic Fire Emblem character Marth.

Once players download him, they must clear a map. When they do, Marth will join them as a playable party member.

Marth will be available as a download on April 19. The download will be free of charge until May 31, 2012. Past this date it will be priced at 300 yen (approximately $3.70 in American currency).

In a game series that, at least historically, has no resurrection and permanent character death.

IIRC, this game will feature the option to turn that off.

At least Nintendo is making it free for the first month so its not a complete scam like most companies do with day one DLC content that's already on the disk and has to be payed for.  If Nintendo uses a model like this for DLC I don't see much wrong with it.  This type of DLC is a good way to encourage people to buy the game right away at full price and actually rewards gamers for doing so.
