Wii Sports and New Super Mario Bros. DS impress with their sales.
Wii Sports has sold over 50 million copies worldwide, while New Super Mario Bros. DS has sold just under 20 million copies, according to software sales data released by Nintendo.
Other notable million sellers include Wii Play at 24.43 million, Wii Fit at 22 million, Mario Kart Wii at 18.36 million. The sales data includes all versions of the game, including bundles and special editions.
Recent titles have also shown impressive sales numbers. Wii Sports Resort has sold a bit under seven million copies since its release last summer worldwide. Wii Fit Plus has sold over two million units. In Japan, Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver combined to sell 2.27 million copies. Finally, Level 5's Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box has sold 1.26 million. The numbers, however, only apply to overseas sale of the title, due to the game being published by Level 5 themselves in Japan.
In addition to their official sales data, they also updated their release schedule for 2010. The North America list mentions eight titles for both Wii and DS. The Japan schedule lists over 14 games, while the European schedule only has six titles. In the North American list, many of the games are marked as temporary. New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Sin and Punishment 2, Metroid: Other M, and Super Mario Galaxy 2 are the only games to appear on all regions.
