The Japanese WiiWare title that was revealed last month is now confirmed to be coming to the US service.

Hudson announced today that My Aquarium is officially coming to the US WiiWare service later this year. The title was released in Japan as Blue Oasis on June 24.

Players will be able to customize their fish tank as well as stock it with a wide variety of fishes from both salt and fresh water. For further details see our report of the Japanese title from last month.

HUDSON ENTERTAINMENT BRINGS THE BEAUTY AND MYSTERY OF THE SEA TO WiiWARE WITH MY AQUARIUM

Hudson's New and Original Experience Delivers the Relaxation of an

Aquarium to Your Wii this year

REDWOOD CITY, CA - July 15, 2008 - Hudson Entertainment, the North

American publishing arm of Hudson Soft, today announced that it is

bringing My Aquarium to WiiWare on the Wii.

My Aquarium is an all-new, original IP for digital download on WiiWare.

In this pleasant and relaxing software experience, much like a real

aquarium, you can customize your fish tank with different backgrounds,

gravel styles, decorations, plant life, and of course, fish. A release

date for My Aquarium will be announced soon.

"While many games and downloads these days focus on wild, fast-paced

gameplay, My Aquarium offers a totally different, calming experience,"

said Sabine Duvall, Vice President of Product Development at Hudson

Entertainment. "Watching the amazing things that can happen in the

underwater world is something the entire family can enjoy."

No room for a real aquarium? Don't have the time or money to maintain

a fish tank? Why not add a beautiful, maintenance-free aquatic

experience to your home with My Aquarium? Sit back, relax and interact

with the fish. If you have to go away for a while, don't worry; you

might even find a brand new fish when you come back! In My Aquarium,

Wii owners can choose the fish that will live in their aquarium and

what decorations they'll get to enjoy. You can choose the glass color,

lighting, background design, style of gravel, rocks, or plant life for

the world their fish will inhabit and can mix and match different fish

in up to 6 individual aquariums. You can even send aquariums to

friends using WiiConnect24T if they also have My Aquarium.

Some other features of My Aquarium include:

- A wide selection of colorful fish - Choose from 40 different types of

fish, from groupers to jellyfish. Both freshwater and saltwater fish

can cohabit just fine. If you want to feed your fish, you can choose

from a variety of food. You can even interact with your fish and keep

a watchful eye on your favorite. Learn more about your fish in the

Fish Database.

- Interacts with the Forecast Channel - Tank conditions change

depending on the weather in your area!

- Focused on Fun -You can simply relax and enjoy the fish. Don't worry

about water temperatures or other special knowledge needed for a real

aquarium. My Aquarium requires only your imagination.

So is this supposed to replace my fake fishtank DVD and screensaver? I like the fireplace DVDs better...

SO ****EN pointless.

I know this for casual gamers, but casual gamers are not mentally retarded 5 year olds that are easily entertained by digital fish.

Why did they even make this game ?

horrible.

horrible.

I saw a detailed video of the Japanese version and while I agree that its basically a glorified screen saver it doesn't look horrible at all.

The fish models actually look very detailed and life life, and the customization options look endless. If I ever get this game I am so making a Finding Nemo task.

Also, maintaining a fish tank is EXTREMELY expensive and very hard. This looks to replicate the experience quite nicely at 5 bucks.

Finally, its clear that this type of game isn't of your liking, and this definitely ain't a gamer's game. However, its unfair to call the game horrible or call its fans retarded because it doesn't meet your standards.

As crazy as it sounds, there are fans in both the casual and hardcore bases that enjoy these types of games and find something to like.

To me, this is one of those games where they are not games at all, yet are able to captivate due to how relaxing and easy going it is.

So next time watch what you say and stop acting like everything is horrible.

i have a program like this on my Mac thats why I know how pointless this is. It's my screen saver and high def too and honestly I don't even care after the few minutes of novelty. I just turn off the computer or the monitor automatically turns off so I don't even see it.

It's really becoming offensive how much garbage is being posted on Wii. If this program was HD than maybe it wold be worth something but more likely the fish will look like n64 graphics and look terrible.

hope is being lost. This announcement came at the worst possible time too. I am furious about the press conference and seeing this garbage on Wiiware and we YET to see Super mario RPG or Earthbound or anything of value on Virtual Console this game is like salt on an open wound.

GOTY.

I'm getting it so I find Adolph's comments offensive.

Dewey's Adventure, Wiitard Music, and now this-a definite pattern. The only thing that could top it would be Mario and Sonic: Special Olympics

StogiJuly 16, 2008

I'll definitely be picking this up.

I would always play this DVD of an exotic fish tank when I had girls over, just to lighten the mood and have something visual interesting to watch. With this I can finally make my own fish tanks for different occasions and hopefully put a custom soundtrack behind it

This is quite a nice surprise, and I will definitely support it.

I hope more "application" software arises.

*I actually have an idea for a sky watch wiiware "application", where you look at the sky from different locations across the world, at any point during the day or night. You could pull the sun up or down; bring in a meteor shower; scale the moon and give it some alluring coolers; make your own constellations; basically, just mess with the sky and weather how you see fit to make a beautiful scene for you and others to admire.

It could be broadened to include a postcard mode where you could take a picture and put filters on top of it to give it a painted look, then send it to a friend.

I think there is a market for such "games." So good for Hudson for realizing the potential.

This intrigues me. I always stop and stare at those highly detailed aquarium screensavers on HDTVs or Mac monitors.

Maybe a salt water tank. There are plenty of pretty, neon colored freshwater fish that can be easily and cheaply cared for.

OMG that's some of the funniest shiz I've read in a while.  It's so true though.

What bothers me about this is that it's something you can get online for free.  In fact, I'm looking at an ad banner right below this post that reads, "Get Free 3D Aquarium Screensavers".  I know that Nintendo puts no restrictions on what comes out on their systems (beyond Adult content, of course), but they really need to start balancing out "traditional" vs. "casual".  There's a definite stigma developing around their system, and it's not something that the announcement of a single Resident Evil title is going to solve.

It's pretty sad when even the people on these forums, who certainly aren't casual Nintendo gamers by any stretch of the imagination, are like, "WTF Nintendo?"

If you don't want it, don't buy it.  Jesus christ.

Come on man, you've gone into every possible thread you can to bitch about this. WE ALL ALREADY KNOW HOW YOU FEEL.  MOST of us agree with you to some extent.  BUT COME ON. CALM THE EF DOWN.

Several of us have recognized that E3 sucked. But SEVERAL of us all quietly believe something will be coming in the next couple of months to help us out.  You think it's some kind of obsessed fanboy thats keeping several of us quiet, well your wrong.

I just know somebody is going to Wii Gift this aquarium thing to me as a joke ;-)
