"The Wii version offers the best online experience to date," says the development team's leader.

The Wii's online interface works best for Pro Evolution Soccer, according to the development team leader.

In a recent interview with Next Gen, Pro Evo Soccer team leader Jon Murphy said that the Wii version of the game "has all the intricacies of the existing versions, but within a user interface that couldn’t be implemented on any other format." He acknowledges the difficulties the team had on the online infrastructure for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions. "The Wii version isn’t just a good football game, it is an ambitious one," he said.

"[Konami has] a wealth of exciting announcements to make on the next version, all of which advance and benefit the series," Murphy added when asked about future versions of the game. He later mentioned Konami’s intentions to release the popular game in other territories, namely South America.

Talkback

Although my soccer game fandom comes from arcade soccer games like Mario Strikers, Sega Soccer Slam and Tiny Toon Adventures for Genesis, the new controls in this game interest me a lot and with the online infrastructure appearing to be solid, I am ever more intrigued.
At the very least, I might have to talk my FIFA-loving brother to pick this game up.

PES shits all over FIFA. Also I should point out that Wii being the best online PES isn't hard by any stretch. Certainly the PS2 games were just a disaster online. Possibly the only game in history where the worse your connection was, the more advantage you'd have. Because each player hosted a half and the player hosting would have perfect gameplay. So if you were on 28k, you'd be 10 goals up that half.

I will believe it when I see it.

This game looks so, so awesome.. I'll be picking it up first day, and hopefully it sells well. I'm a bit worried at the amount of micromanagement though.. but I guess we'll learn.

Moneyhats!

I'm looking forward to this as well, although I'm a little skeptical of the defensive system and the inability to control a single player. Probably a game that'll need some significant learning time.

I want this game bad but I can't find it anywhere in Portland, Oregon.  Even the store that has EVERYTHING for Wii doesn't have this.  I won't mention the name of the store but they always have new copies of Zack and Wiki and No More Heroes but not this.... *sigh*

Actually, I was looking at the game in a Gamestop yesterday, so I'm pretty sure its out.
I think came out a week or two ago.

Holy Hell, you're right.  Apparently it came out March 18.

Don't you feel like a dumb face. ;) Anyway I will probably pick it up to show my support for 3rd parties who actually try to utilize the Wii's special controls instead of just using waggle. I'm not a soccer fan but I feel compelled to support this game!

Also, this is exactly what all of us were wishing for when the Wii was introduced - that multiplatform games would be improved by the remote and because of that the Wii version would be the best of the lot. It looks like this has happened for Pro Evo, and hopefully continues to in the future (as opposed to PS2 ports with terrible motion controls as the multiplatform entry).

It's already out? I'm such a doofus. What am I waiting for. Either tomorrow or Tuesday I will get it.

And if you like it GP, I'll have to get it too!

You're not getting it already? This is the one third party game that you should get!
