Another classic Final Fantasy gets the 3D treatment on Nintendo DS.
With the success of Final Fantasy III on DS, it's no surprise that Square Enix is making another 3D remake of this tremendously popular series. The company has chosen Final Fantasy IV for the next remake, and this game should be much more familiar to fans around the world. Originally released on the Super NES/Famicom, the English version was called Final Fantasy II.
The story revolves around the Dark Knight Cecil, who commands a fleet of airships called the Red Wings and is searching the world for powerful crystals to increase the strength of his empire. His girlfriend Rosa is encouraging him to turn away from aggression and settle down with her. Eventually, Cecil will be betrayed by his own king and undergo a luminous transformation...
Famitsu gives few details on the remake except to say that Square Enix is "adding depth to the magnificent story" and "appending new events and decisions". Of course, the graphics look very much like last year's Final Fantasy III remake, with fully 3D characters and environments.
We should have more information on this game soon, as the Square Enix public event is very close to starting in Japan.
