Naruto Contest Extended!

Haven't entered the Naruto contest yet? Well we've reworked the rules to make it easier to compete, and added some prizes to boot!

To make sure everyone had a chance to participate in the Naruto contest, and to provide extra incentive to enter, we have added a second method of entering the contest, extended the deadline to Monday night of next week, plus we have added FIVE AMAZING VIDEO GAME TYPE PRIZES.

First off, the second way to enter the contest can be found at our Contest page. Instead of recording audio for Radio Free Nintendo, you can merely write a script that we will perform on air!

But more importantly, what are the new prizes? Firstly, each of the three winners will receive one of the last, and I do mean last, PGC T-Shirts. These will include the E3 2002 DVDs!

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL! One grand prize super-awesome winner will receive, I'm not joking, four of the electronic games. Like, as in video games. Yeah. These include: Mega Man X: Command Mission for GameCube, Battles of Prince of Persia for DS, Tomb Raider: Last Revelation for Dreamcast, and a SECRET game! Yeah, uber secret, but it's awesome. It's also old. But awesome! (It's Seaman for DC, with the mic included. But it's a secret!)

Please note that I did not find these games lying around in my apartment, and they are not unwanted. Rather they have taken control of my apartment and are currently lounging in my favorite chair.

Remove the infidels for my sake!

All the contest rules are still available at the Contest page. Enter now!

I know nothing about Naruto to enter this thing. But I wonder if the contest was extended due to lack of interest?

vuduOctober 10, 2006

Does this mean you didn't even get three halfway decent entries under the old rules? face-icon-small-happy.gif

wanderingOctober 10, 2006

Nope, just one.

Fun Fact About That Photo: Evan used Photo Booth on his iMac, which has a 3-second counter before it takes the picture. He pressed the button, ran outside, and had enough time to get into the proper position. I think Evan is secretly The Flash.

You don't need to know anything about Naruto to enter this contest. The radio spot does not actually have to be ABOUT Naruto, it just has to mention it in some way. For instance, you can do 28 seconds of whatever you think is funny and at the end shout "Buy Naruto 2!!!"

In fact, the more it's about Naruto, the less I will actually get it. But we do have a Naruto-seasoned staffer judging entries as well.

If I would have to fathom a guess, D3Publisher probably wants to keep a tab on how many entries were sent in to get a gauge of how successful this publicity stint was. So PGC might be under pressure to get a certain number of them submitted in. But, that's just me musing.

Karl Castaneda #2October 12, 2006

Not really, Arbok. We just got a lot of half-hearted stuff, and we want more people to enter (with quality results), so we upped the anty a little. So far it's been worth it, as some great entries were recently submitted.

And by the way, I'm the Naruto-seasoned judge. I've read every chapter of the manga, and I'm familiar with the anime. I also own Clash of Ninja 1 and 2, so I think I'm qualified. face-icon-small-smile.gif

Someone just redo my French thing and you win automatically.

What about my entry? I already submitted it and I just want to know if it's legal. face-icon-small-confused.gif

Hey Vance, good to see you've finally registered for the forums - I've always liked your contest entries.

As for its legality, I thought Evan had emailed you back... If he hasn't, it was my advice that you send in a new entry - why take the risk? If you're not sure, send in something new.

And of course, thanks for always participating! face-icon-small-smile.gif

VanceOctober 13, 2006

Thanks for the response, Mr. Castaneda. I must have deleted Evan's answer by mistake (I'm very jittery when it comes to the ol' mailbox) face-icon-small-tongue.gif

Regarding the entry, I'm very happy with it. I composed the music from scratch and even changed the instruments, notes, arrangement and lyrics so by the ASCAP's standards it would definitely fall under the category of safe, original, parody-inspired material. I was just writing to make sure. I'll definitely enter a second entry using the second method, though! The notion of writing a Naruto-inspired skit that you guys have to act out is just too much.

I've been debating whether or not I should do this. Can I? I guess it would render my first entry void, right? (I don't mean to imply I think the entry I already sent in is bad. I just know a hell of a lot more about writing than I do about acting/sound editing.)

VanceOctober 13, 2006

According to the current contest rules you can do the audio, the script, or both. You can only do one of each though, and you can't win more than once. Other than that, from my understanding entering an audio entry and a script entry is perfectly fine!

wanderingOctober 13, 2006

Crap, you're right. I didn't even bother reading the new rules because I thought my previous entry made me ineligible.

wanderingOctober 15, 2006

COME ON FHGWGADS I SAY COME ON FHGWGADS EVERYBODY TO THE LIMIT THE CHEAT IS TO THE LIMIT EVERYBODY COME ON FHGWGADS

CericOctober 15, 2006

I sent in my Script. I've been very Busy but I think the concept is funny. I figure you guys now who be the best straight man.

Smash_BrotherOctober 15, 2006

Can it be 33 seconds or will that make it ineligible?

SvevanEvan Burchfield, Staff AlumnusOctober 15, 2006

I am so stingy on rules, or at least I pretend to be, that I will have to demand a 30 second length.

Smash_BrotherOctober 15, 2006

I submitted it at EXACTLY 30 sec but it shows up as 34 seconds.

Just clip the last 4 seconds if you actually decide to use it as they're all silence anyway. The actual audio only lasts to 30 seconds.

The theme of the entry is that the two characters I can impersonate best discuss Naruto and Radio Free Nintendo. Let's just say that they're an "unlikely" pairing...
