Special Edition DS announced as part of a Japanese promotion for Pepsi Twist.

Pepsi and Nintendo have announced a co-promotion in Japan that will see the release of a blue-and-white Nintendo DS designed to promote Pepsi's new drink, Pepsi Twist. There will also apparently be a blue DS carrying case, and Pepsi headphones to go along with it:

Nintendo DS Pepsi Twist Edition

At the moment we're not sure if this DS is a contest prize or if it will be sold at retail, but it sure does look cool. We'll have more information as it becomes available.

So, will Sony counter with a coke PSP?

Hostile CreationFebruary 15, 2005

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Good Gods! This is terrible! Horrible! Pepsi? Good God, forgive Nintendo for what they have done!

Pepsi, y'see, is the greatest incarnation of evil this world has ever seen.

sikboy1029February 15, 2005

I'll defenatly get one if I have the chance. Haven't bought a DS because I don't like platinum

Reminds me of when Square and Coca-Cola had commercials featuring Final Fantasy IX characters and Coca-Cola.

I'm not falling for it....

.....must...resist....temptation....to....buy.....mulitple....systems......AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHH!!

I WANT IT!!

EastmereFebruary 15, 2005

Besides the fact that its Pepsi branded, the blue looks pretty nice. Of course, I would never wear Pepsi logos in my ears.

Grant10kFebruary 15, 2005

this is wierd because i've always thought of sony as the 'pepsi' of videogames, most of all the new features they have was nintendo/coke's idea first then they pay celeberaties to like them. this is just...paradoxial.

Yes, they already have in America. It was about 2-3 months ago and you could win Sony products. A PSP was actually in the lineup too.

I also saw Coca-Cola and Nintendo more related, but eh, now that I truely know the companies of Coca-Cola and Pepsi Co, I despise them both.

And so it begins. . .
Countless more special edition DS's are on the way.
Beware.

Like we didn't see this coming.

I'm saving up for the Super NES Limited Edition DS.

Though I like the ASCiiPad colours so maybe I'd import a Super Famicom Limited Edition DS.

vuduFebruary 15, 2005

Am I the only one who prefers the regular silver DS?

I also have a Silver GBA SP and an Indigo GameCube.

I consider it a badge of honor for being among the first to own a Nintendo product.

Well technically Pepsi was around before coke as a soft drink company. Coke orginally made medical snake oil. Making people feel better by putting a strong narcadic into the drink. (Cocaine hence the name coke.) When the drug was baned for medical use because it offered no benifit other then anasetic that could be achieved with safer drugs. Coke had to find another profession.

As for the DS I like the color. But I wouldn't wear any logos on my ears. Its bad enough that most companies want to make you a walking bill board with your shirts.

That is one awesome looking DS. Too bad the blue pepsi fad came to australia years ago oh well.

Anyway i dont know why all you people think pepsi is second class citizen to coke when in fact coke changed its formula many years ago to be more similar to pepsi. I know i probably shouldnt have said that as it is only enticing you guys to start a big flaming war on which is better, something i dont want you to do.

Personally i dont have any preference for either coke or pepsi and prefer water (sacreligous).

But a nice fire-engine red coke DS would be just as sweet as that cool calming blue pepsi DS.

Or Sony as a counter attack could produce a hot pink spider fanta PSP heh.

I heard that the New Coke that everyone supposedly hated is in fact the current Coke that is sold in Canada. The last time I was in the US I bought several Cokes and they tasted quite different from the ones in Canada. Personally I like the Canadian one better so if it's the New Coke then everyone was probably freaking out entirely because it was changed not because it was bad.

Next time I visit my parents back in Canada I'll have a Coke and I'll let you know.

I'm a Pepsi man myself.

Well, we all know this isn't bad. I hear people saying that this is horrible because Nintendo won't make other colors and they are giving celeb and pepsi special offers. That's not really a big deal, as long as Pepsi DS' aren't available at retail. I personally think that DS looks like garbage, but it will start some talk in Japan for sure.

Hostile CreationFebruary 15, 2005

I prefer the silver to this, but my DS actual has a custom skin (a friend bought it for me). It's pretty kickass, filled with inside jokes and whatnot. I told Knowsnothing I'd post pics of it someday, but I have yet to do so (mostly due to a lack of digital camera).

mantidorFebruary 15, 2005

I wonder how easy is to paint your DS with a motiv of yours?I would prefer to do that, this blue its not very nice, and I despise pepsi to death

Not quite.

"Coca Cola" used to be the same thing everywhere.

Then they pulled that "new Coke" crap.

Just about everyone said it sucked. So Coke backed down and brought back "Coca Cola Classic".

In the States, "Coca Cola Classic" sported a round logo which said "Original Formula". I don't know if it's technically the exact same thing as old Coke, but it seems to be old Coke.

But in Canada, "Coca Cola Classic" had the same round logo, but it said "Original Taste". It's not the "new Coke" that everyone knew and hated, but it is a "new" (circa 1980's) Coke. It's taste is much closer to old Coke than to new Coke, but it's still not old Coke.

JubJubFebruary 15, 2005

Pepsi Max is the be all and end all of cola drinks.

Regular pepsi sucks, as does just about all of Coke's varieties.

I want one of these blue DS's. I've got a nice red SP and would LLLLOVE a different coloured DS...

GamefreakFebruary 15, 2005

I just hope it doesn't actually say Pepsi anywhere on the DS, and is just a blue DS.

KDR_11kFebruary 16, 2005

Come on, beer (Pils, if you have any doubts, Krefelder tastes awful) with coke is where it's at! Or banana juice but good luck finding that stuff.

I don't like Pepsi as much, it has a weird taste, but it's still preferrable to any third party cola out there. Cola is pretty much the only popular "food" you can't get a good substitute for at Aldi.

But then again, remember the first law of fast-food: When you come to another country, everything you know is wrong.

Actually I found that American Wendys and Burger King taste exactly the same as the Canadian ones. McDonalds is totally different though. Personally I prefer the Canadian McDonalds as it tastes less greasy. Chocolate bars are slightly different too. What Americans call Mars Milky Way is what the regular Mars bar in Canada is. And Reese's Nutrageous is called Oh Henry Peanut Butter in Canada and it's bigger.

Very true. Or Lidl.
