Another year, another Mario Party.
Mario Party 7 does not seem to offer anything new on its face, but I was really surprised that it offers a new eight-player mode. "Eight players?" you ask. Yes, eight-players. This method of control is done through two players holding each side of a single controller, very much like the Wario Ware multiplayer games. I didn’t see any of them in the demo, though.
So, Mario Party 7 is pretty much just like the previous game, which is a good thing in my opinion. One of the minigames I played involves four players flipping through pages in a book to find the right picture. Another one I played is of of those glorious A-button tapping minigames which involves the player smashing Pokeys with a big hammer. You know, typical Mario Party stuff.
I think the game is really fun. It promises to have 80+ new minigames, as well as Gamecube Mic support, so that peripheral will get some more use. Unlike most of the Internet, I happen to rather enjoy Mario Party now and then, and this game is shaping up nicely.
