My Nintendo Oddity
« on: August 04, 2004, 12:50:12 PM »
I just registered my copy of WarioWare Mega Party Game$ with My Nintendo, and they said it was already registered.  It certainly wasn't registered under MY name.  It's a new game, like, ne-new, as in "not used"... I suppose it's my comeuppance for registering those Blockbuster games earlier in the year.  Has this happened to anybody else?

If you already registered a copy of WarioWare with a stolen PIN from Blockbuster, then it wouldn't let you register your legit copy of the game, because you can't register two copies of the same game.

Perhaps that's the problem? I think your My Nintendo account has a list in it of all the games you're registered so far, so you can check that if you don't remember.

Heyheyhey, now!  It was a rented pin.  I rented the games, the pins just happened to come with them, but also neither of them were WarioWare it was Mario Kart, and Party.  Thanks for wagering a guess though.

Wow!  I believe God Himself is trying to teach you a lesson!  Or if you're an atheist, it's Gremlins.  Damn those things!

A couple of (honest) possibilities:  a screw-up in Nintendo's manufacturing plants, or some employee at the store was testing the game and st-stole the PIN number.  I doubt that's the case if you bought it at a big retail chain, but one of my friends worked at a smaller game store and they encouraged their employees to take games home and play them, then they would re-wrap the games after they were done and sell them like new.
That's my opinion, not yours.

Why must I keep getting smoten?  It's not like I did anything wrong, except all of that wrong I did.  It always works for Lupin!  I need spindly misproportional limbs, and then I'd get the respect.  Till then EBGames employees are just gonna keep stealing pins from me, leading me to steal pins from Blockbuster, it's just a vicious cycle!  Theft leads to theft kids, which eventually leads to ecstasy, which eventually leads to treason.  Remember that if you don't wanna end up bowin' to the Commies.

The easiest way to see if the game was re-wrapped and sold as new is if the disc is alittle loose from the circle that holds the disc, it happened to me twice when i bought it, Timesplitters 2 and Ikaruga disc just flew out of the circle when i opened them i was kinda pissed but there was no scratches so i didnt care.

My cousin's friend works at a EB and he said that employees can try out games for free before they decide to buy them or to not buy them and shrink wrap em to sell them as new depending if the disc didnt get too damaged. Also shrink wrapping  is usually feels alittle looser than traditional factory sealed copies.

That once happened to me.  I bought a brand new computer game and tried to register it but it said it was already registered.  I brought it back to find out that it actually wasn't a new game after all.  They had "accidentally" put it in the wrong section.

Yeah...I bought Blast Corps from Blockbuster, and the idiots are all like, "OH YEAH ITS NEW NEVER BEEN OPENED OH YEAH WHAZZAAAAAAP."  And I go home, freaking open it, and every freaking level is freaking BEATEN.  It sucked.  And as far as I knew (I don't own it anymore), there was no way to erase the file...then again, I never really tried, either...lol...

I bought Goldeneye second hand and It had 3 empty files and one that was totally completed, so when I got bored of doing it on mine, I could go on the completed one, turn on some cheats and just frag the hell out of a level.

I got LoZ (GBA) "used" from EB (idiots even forgot to wipe the saves and that moronic salesperson even told me "it's still in the original packaging") but I don't think the PIN was used (NoE puts this "rub off with a coin" stuff over the numbers and I guess even EB would smack their employees for damaging THAT). I know why that company is on my list of non-trustworthy companies and only buy there when I have to Media Markt had no copies...). It's easy to tell those copies apart, though, they come in a welded shrinkwrap with little folds and stuff, original packaging is folded and doesn't have the weld seam. Also, original wrapping has this little band to tear it open with which has "Nintendo" printed on it. Only Nintendo does the latter, obviously, but the former is true for ALL games.
