Mock Revolution launch titles
« on: August 01, 2004, 11:31:40 AM »
Heres a places where we can talk about the possible launch titles for the revolution.  Its hard because we dont know whats so revolutionary about it but we can try it anyway.
1.Mario 128- Ninty has to put out a Mario game at launch and this delayed GC games will be a hit
2.Resident Evil 5-Capcom trademarked the name for this game, and it should do well like its predecessors
3. Viewtiful Joe 3- Same as above
4. Super Smash brothers revolution- SSB's long awaited chance at online gaming
5.EA Sports lineup
6.New Nitendo franchise- You know Ninty will launch a new franchise so heres a spot
7.  Tales of Whateveria-  Namco brings it's succesful series to the REV
8.Punch Out revoloution- I hope, i hope, i hope
9. Animal crossing 3- To be released a couple monthes later the communication game gets new features
10.  City of Heros 2- This great MMORPG will never happen on the Rev but i can hope
11. Sims: out of this world- the next sims franchise allowing you to deal with the ins and outs of life in space
12.TMNT- The turtles in a half shell get the Revolution launched with a Multiplayer online beat em up
13.Splinter Cell 4-Fisher beats up terrorists again
14.Spiderman the Movie 4- Hopefully someone other than Activision makes this game
15.ESPN Sports line up- Sega and ESPN bring there sports lineup back, I hope
well those 15 games would be one heck of a launch hey lets hope it looks something like this

How 'bout some Super Monkey Ball and a game with some pirates. And a new Metriod 1st person game where you get a super scope-like thing that you put on your arm to play. And bring back the super scope!

Yes! I'm still ticked that title got cancelled.

I'd love WaveRace at launch as well. WaveRace: BS is still one of my favorite racing games.

I'd like a lot of new stuff.  I want Mario at launch but I want everything else to be unique titles.  Nintendo has gotten WAY too sequel happy lately.  I buy their consoles because of their creativity and their dedication to quality.  I don't buy their consoles to play cookie cutter sequels.  Anti-Nintendo people have often accused Nintendo of rehashing the same crap again and again.  I used to consider that an unfair criticism but the Cube and GBA have had more sequels and spin-offs than any Nintendo console to date.  There used to be only three Metroid games.  Now there are SIX with two more on the way.

With the Revolution launch I want a new Mario game from EAD because I do like sequels in moderation for the really major titles.  However I would like to see Intelligent Systems, NST, HAL, and Retro all deliver something completely original for their first Rev title.

yeah Raven Blade looked really good before it was canceled for Metriod Prime, and Factor 5 will be developing a new Pilot Wings game that I'm will take full advantage of the hardware that they will probably assist in creating. Another thing I would love to see is a new first person shooter that will be sure to sell really well. People always seem to be drawn to great FPS, hell Xbox would have been dead in the water if it wasn't for Halo. And one thing I would like to see that hasnt been mentioned is a game that in know has very little chance of coming out for launch on Revolution and that is Too Human, or anything else by SK would work for me.

Revolution won't see a resident evil game if everyone doesn't go out and buy RE4.  I'd wrather see Rogue squadron IV as a launch title (only if I could co-op the other three games levels online)  A mario game is a must.  Final Fight style beat em up, and the most important thing it could get is a kick ass 2D fighter.  Cube has one.  Not enough to reel in hard core gamers.  Get some capcom love and some SNK affection.  Some Sammy infatuation wouldn't be a bad thing either.

I have never, ever, not once, played a Nintendo sequel that could be described as even remotely similar to cookie cutter.
They should try new franchises, though.

I have a feeling Squareenix going to bring out something big for revolution.  Nintendo and Squareenix have been getting closer as of late.
They are even colaberating on bringing Squareenix's online games to the DS.  Don't be suprised if Nintendo drops the bomb in E3 in may with info on the revolution launching with a big budget Squareenix game.  I'm still a little suspect on the true FFs coming back to Nintendo (only possible way would be through multiplatform release for now)  but maybe a true chrono trigger sequal.  Given that Square and Enix are one now , they can get the original crew to develope it.

Mario, Pilotwings, F-Zero, and a regular Sim City for launch would make my day. A Pikmin with more exapansive environments would be good too; call it Pikmin 3000.

For everyone else there should be a Madden, an exclusive Time Splitters 4, Baiten Kaitos 2 or Golden Sun, and an exclusive new franchise/concept game to round it out.

By Christmas there should be Mario Kart, Raven Blade, Wave Race, Rogue Squadron 4, co-op Viewtiful Joe, and Resident Evil. And some kind of bundle.

Mario & Sonic (You know it has to happen eventually. The Two biggest Plataform Mascots ever together finally. Bowser and Dr Eggman team up obviously)

SSBM 2  (More Characters, Maybe even some non Ninty Characters. Super Monkey Ball, and Vietifull Joe)

Exitebike Revolution ( A different Racing Game, Kinda Tired of Wave Race)

F-Zero Revolution (Again made by Sega)

Punch Out Revolution (Another Fan Favorite)

Star Tropics 2 (You had to see that one coming)

As far as launch titles go Nintendo really needs to release quite a diverse range of titles right out of the bag.

By doing this it will attract a large audience and accomodate just about everyone.

Not all the titles need to be blockbusters, hopefully there are a few must haves in their launch.  They dont all have to be Nintendo brands either just as long as there is something for everyone.

Id like to see something along the lines of:

1. Platformer: Mario game (Nintendo's biggest franchise everyone knows and recognises)

2. RPG: All new RPG from SquareEnix but if not something from the Tales Series by Namco would suffice

3. Racing: There is alot of awesome racing titles out there something like a Ridge Racer or F-Zero or Wave Race etc.

4. Original: Nintendo needs to bring out something totally original a new franchise that flaunts the available features of the Revoluiton (ie if the controllers have gyroscopes in them bring out a game that uses them)

5. Sports: Baseball or Tennis or Golf or BasketBall or American Football (definately not a fan) or Wrestling... something sport orientated

6. FPS: what can i say look at HALO, People like first person shooters so give the people a first person shooter

7. Music: Dare i say it but a music title DDR not only could this title be marketed as a way to keep fit but it still seems to be quite popular.

8. Puzzler: These games can be quite addictive a new Super Monkey Ball would be cool or even a puzzle bobble (cant get enough of that one)

9. Action: A new Resident Evil or Prince of Persia or Ninja Gaiden or Viewtiful Joe.

10. Fighting: SSBM or Soul Calibur or Punch Out hell even bribe Namco to bring its Tekken series over.

11. Mutliplayer: What i mean by this is a game that is designed to be played with more than one person rather than just an extra on the side.  A new Mario Party or X-Men Legends or Final Fantasy CC something that everyone can play together.

12. MMORPG: This is a long shot considering Nintendo's stance on online games but if they could use either their pokemon or animal crossing franchise as a MMORPG it would be a huge selling point for their next console.

Now i do relise that Nintendo couldnt possibly launch a title for every different genre there is, thats why you need to get your 3rd parties working in parallel getting their titles ready for launch to give the consumer a wide selection of titles.

Mario, something brand-new that uses the Revolution's "revolutionary" abilities to the fullest, and a party game.  Those should be there, and Nintendo should have a continuous stream of new releases ready for the system in the early months of its lifespan, because that's when a system is at its weakest and that's when people are forming their opinions about the new systems.
That's my opinion, not yours.

RE5: Survival
You play Mikami days after Capcom's october 31st announcement where you have to fight off thousands of rabid Nintendo fans who took your words too literally.
Capcom suit being ripped to pieces: Who knew that there were even this many Nintendo gamers?

Seriously though RE needs another sequel badly and after the exposure that RE4 has been getting, if Nintendo were to get an RE that stayed exclusive, it could really help their image.  That being said, wasn't RE4 the last RE Mikami is said to be working on ?
Timesplitters or some new Free Radical FPS- The success of Halo is evidence enough that an FPS can do a system wonders.  Nintendo must still have some relations with some of the ex-Rare members.  Red Faction 3 would be pretty cool too.

We need a pokemon MMORPG. IT WOULD WORK SO WELL. Every player is a trainer, the land can be split into zones. Certain zones have certain pokemon spawn in random places on random spawn timers. Then you could catch them. Instead of finding phat l3wt you find phat pokemon. Trainers could then dual each other. Badges would be like keys into higher level zones. There could be random serverwide events based off the movies.  WE NEED IT NOW!

Nah, original and good content please.  Though a Pokemon MMO would be awesome, as a launch title it would help Nintendo's image at all.
