Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green
« on: July 31, 2004, 06:20:37 PM »
Hey, Im a very big pokemon fan from the start, i watched the tv show, i ahd teh card game, and i had pokemon red.  Now that im older i just play the games, which i still love, i think they are the second best RPG series in gaming, and Sapphire/ruby is on my top 5 games of all time list.  But i wanna know do you guys think Red/Green are worth it.  They are the same games that i have already played before and nintendo is charging a ridiclous 40 buck price.  Do you think the couple new additions they put it are worth it? and does anybody know what the key additions are that will benefit a guy who knows the pokemon universe inside and out? (Its easy to see there target audience is now kids)

Well it'll come with the wireless adapter if you think thats worth it then go for it. I'll be getting it though. If you think about it some GBA games come out a $35. so only see it as a $5 increase.

If you want to be convinced its worth it, throw your copy of Red back in your gameboy and see how fugly it is.  Now think back to the fun you had playing it and imagine how fun it would be with updated graphics....

The remakes are looking better and better the more i look into them. I thought I knew all the stuff they added to it but I was wrong.
On a seperate topic has anybody else seen the prevolved form of snorlax yet? I could link it if anybody cared enough to see it

Edit: Just so you guys know I dont think the pre snorlax is in the remakes but yet again I could be wrong

The wireless thing isnt worth it, and i get my games from walmart so there 30 bucks, and i refuse to pay 35.  40 is ridiculus for a remake.  But if that link you gave me is right 3rdrocket Ninty is already and work on there DS pokemon (just guessing its DS) so thats good

I cant believe they are making a remake.  I always felt that all the pokemon games since the first were almost like retellings storywise.  It would be nice if there was a pokemon game like in colesium with an actual complex storyline and it wasnt about becoming champion.

Adam, you shouldn't post your contact info on a public forum, especially not at that age. For one thing it might attract people that pose a threat to you and for another thing it will give your email address to the spammers.

Even though Fire Red/Leaf Green is $40, I'll probably still buy one (Fire Red) just in hopes that Growlithe is on it.

Speaking of Pokemon cards, am I the only one who still has theirs laying around?

I still have my Pokemon cards, but I stopped obsessively collecting them around the time the e- series came out, cause there were just too damn many! I've actually just decided to go back and concentrate on completing the earlier sets and leave it at that. I'm also getting rid of a lot of my doubles, so if anyone's missing any cards in sets up to Neo Destiny, just let me know!

As for FireRed/LeafGreen, I'll probably pick it up if I can find it on the cheap... I remember I picked up Sapphire on launch at Wal-Mart, with a players guide included, for a little over twenty bucks... not bad.

EDIT: Just saw that Circuit City will be selling them for $27.99 (in store only)

I locked my cards in a drawer. After base set 2, I just stopped collecting('cept that one neo pack I won that one time at that arcade on my Jewish friend's birthday at his party which was on a saturday). I'd sell them but I can't find any buyers 'round my way. And of cource I can't sell them here. Hehehe. . .

I still cherish my E3 Pikachu, Nidoqueen, and Farfetch'd cards, namely because those Pokemon were my key favs back when Red and Blue came out...I still have my other cards of course(stopped collecting a long time back though)... ^_^

God, Farfetch'd is STILL my favorite Pokemon. It's just so cool looking, plus it learns Fly, which is helpful in every game. I was so crushed when it wasn't included in R/S.

Just picked up Leaf Green from Circuit City today, for $27.99, so it cost just under what a normal GBA game would cost. Not bad, and they threw in the little Guide Book you got when you pre-ordered.

Only played up to Viridian City, but so far it's bringing back some sweet college memories. And it's great to have Bulbasaur back on my team...

Bulba! Bulbabulba! Saur!

Once I get a Farfetch'd and a Pikachu on my team, things will be lookin' up! ^_^
