WTF? They surpassed Ubisoft?

(note that they state "independant publisher", this allows them to not count Nintendo, which would probably place them 3rd, no. 1 is of course EA)

THQ = Toy Head Quarters, I believe. Good to see they're doing well, I 'spose. I mean, this is the same company that spewed out Ren and Stimpy Veediots and Wayne's World on SNES. Two of the crappiest games ever made. Not to mention Home Alone. Oh, and Super Battleships. That game got 2/100 in Nintendo Magazine System.

I recall THQ publishing some rather good titles on various platforms. Whatever, they'll lose their number 2 spot once Doom 3 comes out.

THQ games I've played/owned that don't suck: Summoner 2, Red Faction, Red Faction 2, Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior, Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy, SplashDown Rides Gone Wild, MX Unleashed.  They've also released alot of great gba games, I think they've either codeveloped/published just about every Sega gba title.  They're publishing Rare games for gba too, I'm still looking forward to Banjo Pilot.

Red Faction 2? Don't suck? They should be lined up on a wall for including botmatches but no multiplayer! The level design is so bad it's on par with Turok, the weapons are so utterly redundant you can throw out half of them and not notice a difference and in singleplayer the mouselook feels sluggish (somehow it feels better in botmatches...). They should have given that to ValuSoft, it's definitely on par quality wise.

Also, THQ owns ValuSoft, enough of a reasn to wipe them out for the good of humanity.

what!!!???  Red Faction 2 was a great game.  It has 4 person multiplayer.... even on the PS2 version with 40 different maps...  The weapons were some of the most satisfying, and the gunship, submarine, and battle armor parts were awesome.  (quote from Game Informer "the secondary features on your weapons complement their primary abilities perfectly")

I found nothing wrong with the freelook using the controller and on PS2 it had usb keyboard and mouse support...  It was my favorite fps game so far this generation for single player, TS2 being best for multi.  You must be raised on a strict PC FPS heritage I guess or just hatred of Red Faction 2.

Scores for Red Faction 2:

Gamespot 8.3/10
Gamepro 4.5/5
O.Playstation M. 4/5
IGN 9.2/10
Game Informer 8.75/10

Not sure how this ended up on Planet Gamecube, since it involves an XBox game...

Also not sure about all this THQ hatred.  Geez... Full Spectrum Warrior is an amazing game, and deserves it's sales.  I'm sure it'll drop far down the charts this month, thanks to ESPN NFL, NCAA, and Tales, but the game is truly great, and deserves the #1 spot... 2 will have to do.

Red Faction II was pretty alright, but it hardly put the Geo-Mod engine to any use at all. Most walls just got a black texture if you shot a rocket at them. At least in the original, you could keep digging through walls with rockets. Not that it lead anywhere...

Thats unfortunate, atleast they threw in the bot matches for extra replay value rather than just give you the single player.  Strange the PC version did not include multi in that version because RF 1 on the pc had it, and it was popular.  I'm looking at a review of RF 2 PC and it did much worse than the console versions.  You got the worst version.  Another thing is if you got it bundled with another game for 5 euros you must've got it recently, and afterall it is a 2+ year old fps in the PC world where technology keeps pushing FPS to a new level each year so I'm not surprised you weren't impressed, I know I was 3 close to 3 years ago when the home console version debuted which the PC ver was ported from.

I wasn't even expecting it to live up to the graphics of, say, Unreal 2 or Doom 3 or something, but it should at least measure up to the original Red Faction or Quake 3 Arena or something. It wasn't originally released on the N64, was it? What do you have to do to make a mouse control feel laggy??? The only reasons I could find for lacking multiplayer was idiocy or lazyness, but that must have been some REALLY extreme lazyness there.

THQ co-publishes and distributes all of Sega's GBA titles, which makes up a significant portion of THQ's sales.  Their Nickelodeon games also sell very well, quality aside.

Gah, there are kids that can stand Nickelodeon? I always hated jokes involving body fluids and Nickelodeon was even worse than Disney in that area.
