Atari announces two new action games not based on Dragon Ball Z.

According to Atari’s own web site, Atari has two more Dragon Ball games in the works for the GBA.  The first, Dragon Ball: The Red Ribbon Army Saga follows the memorable adventure of young Goku as he overcomes an entire army to reclaim his grandfather’s heirloom—a dragon ball.  The site mentions no further details.  

The second game is based on the final chapter of the Dragon Ball franchise.  Atari has provided no details on Dragon Ball GT: Transformation.  The small font also reveals a 2005 copyright.

That looks a little off. Dragonball was written and drawn in manga (comic book) form by Akira Toriyama, and his staff of assistants (then "adapted" into anime form by Toei Animation). Toriyama's art studio is "Bird Studios".

Bird Studios has also provided the art and character designs for games like Dragon Quest and Chrono Trigger, but I'm pretty sure they don't qualify as a "game developer".

Then this is made exponentially more weird by the fact that Dragonball GT wasn't adapted from an Akira Toriyama/Bird Studio manga in the first place, and was made (in all of it's sucky glory) by Toei Animation. I guess Bird Studios just gets their name stuck on anything with the Dragonball name (since they own the rights), but it'd be cool if they took some sort of unusual special interest in this game for some reason.

not many people liked dragonball, I personally loved Dragonball more the Z and GT
So I might pick this up, I really dont care who makes the Game, the fact Bird made drawings for Dragon Quest and Chrono Trigger doesnt impress me
due to the fact that they already have models of the people in 3D due to the toys over the last 10years or so.

I just hope his clothes are the orginal Colour and not the GT colours like in the dragonball tv movie

I agree.  I thought the original series had much more of an "adventure" tone to it.  As opposed to ten hour long fights which (to me) made watching Dragon Ball Z almost a chore.  (Sidebar: I don't know whether Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball Z was technically "first", I'm speaking chronologically).

Anyway, I'll wait for the reviews before I buy either of these, but I'm hopeful.
