For me, the magazines I bought were Nintendo Magazine System (NMS) and N64 Gamer. Those were the only two Nintendo mags in Australia.
There was also 64, and N64 Magazine, but those were british.
NMS was good in that it was the official mag, but the only thing that made em stand out were the mailbags (Les' Mailbag and Skull's Mailbag) where people could get away with profanity and drawings of nude characters and sexual connotations (Nintendo or otherwise, but the subject was always Les' mysterious, drug-addicted, Transylvanian nurse and caretaker, Nursie

). It was a sordid place i tells ya!
N64 Gamer was good too. It was good cause it was an unofficial mag, and the differences between it and NMS were ginormous. If there was a game that was bad to them, the review was just a huge rant. Their review of a Sesame Street game comes to mind, when it was a one page round-table about rubber chickens and why Big Bird is called Big Bird

Both mags got boring after a while. I grew out of the humour after a few years, and both are now out of print. NMS went first back in 2000, N64 Gamer lasted longer, turning into 'Nintendo Gamer', and went out early last year.
I've pretty much stopped buying magazines now - I spend it on games, social occasions and food, and whatever left is for me to save up.
I need a job

And I hope one will come soon now that I've actually applied!
Man, was that a life story liek WHAT =/
