1/27/03 - 2/2/03

6) Pocket monster ruby 27,960 (1,901,365)
7) Pocket monster sapphire 27,690 (1,942,350)
18) Zelda: Wind Waker 8,313 (595,863)
21) World soccer winning eleven 6 7,043 (7,043)
30) Mario Party 4 4,970 (736,521)
40) Biohazard 0 3,600 (312,583)

Pokemon is going strong. Both games should pass the 2 million mark soon. Zelda is has lost steam, but I think it will hover around the 10,000 mark for awhile. It is too bad Winning Eleven didn't have a great debut. Hopefully sales would pick up for this great game. Mario Party 4 and Resident Evil Zero will be off the charts soon.

Next Weeks Games
February 6, 2003 Generation of Chaos Exceed RPG Idea Factory E
February 7, 2003 Nintendo Puzzle Collection Puzzle Nintendo E

I don't know what the first game is, but it is an RPG so I hope it sells well. I believe Nintendo Puzzle Collection would be a bigger seller.

Scenario: Average Japanese gamer walks into average japanese gaming store... "Hmm, what should I get...DOA beach volleyball, a poor excuse for a game...or an excellent Zelda game...well, better go with volleyball! Tits! Ass!"

those numbres somewhat depressing. the media create numbers(i think thats what it is) are way higher. re0 looks like its selling poorly, but it sold better then the remake, and i think it will meet capcoms expectations of 1.3 million worldwide. the good thing about zelda is that it will sell just as good in north america and europe. i am sure it could reach 3 million worldwide. and mario party4 has done very well in the us and japan. nintendo is look alright for now.

I am suprised Zelda is not selling better. It will be real interesting to see how the US audience recieves the new Zelda.

I think that Zelda will do much better here in the US that in Japan.

Zelda has sold better in the US than Japan in the past.

Not to mention just because it drops off the the top 10 charts doesn't mean it stops selling. They will be selling new copies of the bigger hits for years now, so they will eventually break a few million in each of the markets.

what are you talking about. The fact that this topic has been open for 11 hours when you posted that comment shows that the mods have no problem with this thread. If I just copyed the top 50 and posted it, maybe the mods would care. I'm just giving sales data about Japan. There is a difference between copy and paste a whole article and taking a piece of an article and analzing it. I know the rules. If a mod has problem with me posting data, then they would tell me.

Not quite.  According to The-MagicBox, Pokemon Gold sold 3.30 million copies and Pokemon Silver sold 3.41 million.  So, Ruby and Sapphire are only a bit over halfway to outselling Gold and Silver. Still, it's a very attainable goal if sales remain steady throughout the rest of the year.

Well, it seems that Gamecube sales have come back down to earth now that the holiday season is over.  The problem is that I don't see any GCN product that can seriously reinvigorate sales in Japan until Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles comes out.  Square thinks that it can sell one million copies, for Nintendo's sake, I hope they do.

Odd that DMC get slammed by the critics yet look at the sales.... Zelda doesnt get the sales. Worrying if i do say so myself. Nintendo needs to work with its advertising departments both USA and Abroad. Finally  they need to release Winning 11 in Europe instead of ISS

Pokemon are almost at two million. It should hit that mark in a couple of weeks. Nintendo Puzzle Collection had a solid debut. Nothing is coming up for the GameCube next week so it should stay on top. It looks like everyone has the PS2 version of Winning Eleven.

GBA SP came out this week. FFT had a great debut and Metroid had some solid numbers. Pokemon is almost off the top ten. Biohazard 0 and Winning Eleven dropped off the top 50. Metroid Prime comes out the week after next week. It is going against a bunch of good PS2 games so it should be interesting.

Yeah I've heard about the great start the SP, Tactics, and Fusion had. So I'm glad to see some hard numbers. I'm always amazed by the differences between the Dengeki and Media Crate charts. Anyone know why there are differences. I mean game sales on the Media Create charts are always substantially higher....do they count the number of units shipped? And does Dengeki count the actual units sold through?

Dengeki and Media Create both count number sold. They get different numbers because they sample from different stores. The NPD charts sample about 60% of the US market. They extrapolate their data to come up with other 40%. If another company samples 50% of the US company, they would have different data then the NPD charts.

Zelda sales are higher on Media Crete than Dengeki, but Pokemon is higher on Dengeki charts. The official sales that companies use is media create. I only have access to the top ten each week so I don't post them. Dengeki charts are top 50 and give out the total sales with the weekly sales.

Zelda isn't doing as bad as it seems. It has sold 601,230 this year. And in Decemeber it sold around 448,606 so it has broke the one million mark in sales. Which most titles can't say for them selves before falling off the chart.

Another thing to note Ruby and Sapphire have already broke the 3 million each because between the two they sold around 3,197,762, or 1,598,881 each avg. So that make it approximately 3,500,246 copies of Ruby Sold, and 3,541,231 copies of Saphire sold and they haven't even been released in any other market as of yet.

/me scratches head

I haven't seen so much fuzzy math in a while.  Not quite sure where you are getting your numbers from, but I assure you that Zelda has sold 600k total in Japan.  And despite reading your second paragraph several times, I have no idea what sort of odd equation you're using.  Both Pokemon games have sold about 2 million each, or 4 million together.

Actually, now that I think of it, I'm pretty sure I know what the problem is.  While charts such as Dengeki and Media Crate post only the yearly total for consoles sold (The # of consoles sold by each company since Jan. 1, 200X), the same does not apply for software sales. Those sales "are" cumulative.

I think you need to check your sources or mathematic skills, because Zelda:WW has sold 600,000+ in total. And of Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire "only" 2 million copies each have been shipped by Nintendo.
