Online game Ideas?
« on: February 05, 2003, 02:42:14 PM »
I thought of cool way to make Metriod Online.

Each month Nintendo will make up a new quest (very small when compared to Prime) that will be available to download(somewhere??) or required directly on the server (BB only). Anyways, each new quest will have a briefing detailing the main objective ( of course all cool and futuristic like) and VOLA! Metriod is online. Stats could be shown of who beat the game the fastest and with the most % completion.

You guys have any ideas...they don't have to be spin-offs from games

What are you going to store this on anyway?

Not really online, but release the mini screans and enable plug and play LAN access.

Hey! I came up with Metroid Online. Here's proof. See that's my fake game on my site. Well, you thought of how to do it... I just thought of it. But then again, mine's like a weird PSO and Metroid crossbreed.

I'm just joking around. I like you ideas for an Online Metroid, but where would you keep your data? GameCube doesn't have a hard drive. Would Nintendo make special memory cards?

EDIT: Just thought I'd let eveyone know that I'm leaving on a trip soon and won't be visiting the forums until next Wednesday. See you in a week!

I do have an online game on paper based lossly off a story I've been writting since I was in 7th grade (about 12 years ago). It would be a massive ongoing war between two different spieces over a few solar systems. Its too late at night currently to dig it up. But think Starcraft except that a game goes on for days with thousands of players paticipating at different times. (Bandwidth nightmare.)
Stupidity is lost on my. Then again I'm almost always lost.

Theres always Pokemon MMORPG but actually id like to see Sega use their knowledge of PSO and make Skies of Arcadia Online. It would be a great game to take online. Imagine people going to the guilds to try to take the secret information before other pirates. It would be awesome!

That accually would be a great game. They did a great job with changing Phantasy Star into a MMORPG, they could just take it a step further.

Wow... Skies of Arcadia online, that'd be perfect.  SOA seems to have the perfect kind of setting for an online game.

Metroid, though... Metroid games usually have you stranded alone on an alien world.  You could download missions, sure, but they'd be extra - they wouldn't fit into the main game, and the great thing about Metroid games is how everything fits together.  On an add-on mission, you would probably just have an action sequence, and any power-ups would only help on that one mission.

Animal Crossing Online. Just think, you could have cities and just walk (or maybe take a train) to their for trading and live in towns with your friends over different memory cards.
You can pick you friends, you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friend's nose.

Damn, I love that idea babalou! It's like Mario Party gone violent. Mario Bash, you might say.

I think the only games that are worthwhile to play online are games where it's really obvious you're playing against humans. Otherwise, it's just like you're playing against bots who use profanity. I think Advance Wars would make an interesting online offering. Any game where a player's personality comes through in their play style would work well. Racing games would not. Sports games mostly would not. Strategy games, that's where it's at, man.

I know this sounds stupid, but I think some type of online gambling game where you play for, I dunno, online time/credit might be... well, addictive, if somewhat shady..

Well, one cool online feature could be to let people trade gamesaves (anyone remember the dexdrive?), or trade downloadable mini-games a la Animal Crossing.

Hell, while I dreaming out loud... it would be awesome if there were some "game-maker" type software (like Fighter Maker for PS2) that let you make your own games which you could then share with the world. "MAKE YOUR GAMING DEBUT ON THE GAMECUBE NETWORK." Now that's a network I would call "DREAM ROAD". Or at the very least, it could let you download new textures, new sample/template characters, new music, etc.. Hell, even a BeatMania type game (a "music creater/mixer" type game, big in Europe, I think) that let you send your tracks to others, download new sound samples, instruments, etc.. Imagine competitions for where the winner could get his music incorporated into an actual game--maybe as the intro song, or a sample song, in the next Beatmania title.

And, of course, people could upload or download new levels made using the Level Editors which are included with many games (THPS, Timesplitters 2?, etc)

You know what would be great?

A Grand Theft Auto cross-platform MMORPG.  Think about it.  When you start up each time, you could choose to be a thug, gang member, pedestrian, cop, paramedic, etc...  and go around town and interact with other online players.  That would be a great game.

Pokemon Online RPG is the best game for online RPG.  Every month or year they can introduce new Pokemon. Some Pokemon can be really rare and only some people have them.  There can be different tournaments, which you need to qualify for. Every year there can be a Pokemon Master tournament, the winner will be crowned the Pokemon Master. It will basically be the Pokemon League.  There can be different events, and things. You can even join Team Rocket or Magma or whatever the new things are. They could do much much more...

I think the best idea for an online game would be Mario Kart.  With downloadable content and characters....Drool.

I've actually got 2 ideas, one of which will almost definitely not happen.

One  -  A full out Wars game made specifically for te GameCube.  Great graphics, great gameplay, items, buildings and whatnot, and most importantly a robust and entertaining online multiplayer option.  I can just imagine and huge 3D world, tons of levels, units, extras and such, and then taking that online to battle others would be great.  I'd spend a great deal of time playing it, if it weren't nonexistant.

Two  -  This could be used with any type of game.  The ability to use a device or cable through one of the GCN high-speed ports to connect with a PC or Mac (preferably both) which allows you to create levels, items, and characters to add with a game (a la NeverWinter Nights).  You could then store them on the PC or Mac hard drive, and load it into the game's RAM whenever you want to play it.  This could be used with anything, even to make your own games (though they may be small).  Sort of like a $50 or $100 version of a debug kit.
I'm good at what I do

i personally do not like online gaming that much but
i would love to see super mario brothers online
now before you say it cant happen think about it
i could be up to four people online with different mario characters going through a side scrolling game
i could work like the 2 player modes in mario brothers 3 or mario world
of course i dont think it could happen but it would be cool if it did
i call the big one bitey.

I agree with Edisim; an online version of Advance Wars would be great.  I am not usually one for strategy games, but that game was very good.  I would like to see a cell shaded Gamecube version of Advance Wars. The levels and campaigns  could be huge on the Cube, and the ability to build your own levels and play them online against other people would be quite fun.

i would have to go wqith pokemon online.  Now i don't mean pokemon stadium online, i mean pokemon online.  make it a MMORPG, full roaming involved with large travel distance between towns.  2 ways to do the fights.
1) Your ONLINE PC carries with him a GBA and links together to use the pokemon you allready have, in a more complex battle scheme.
2)it is a new game completely, where when you fight, you actually control you pokemon and you can program your attacks.  Say B could be like a jump, A, X, Y, R could all be where you set your 4 attack moves to, and Z could open your items menu, usuable only in random battles, or in a set amount of timeouts in duals with other players.

A PSO-esque character design could be incorparated, but make the characters pokemon-ish.  The best thing would be a team up option where you could adventure with a group and be told when one of them has come online.  Of course part of the fun would be waiting for boats to arrive, going through the gyms, exploring the caves........... BUT MOST IMPORTANT, SEEING ALL THE POKEMON.  I truly believe that this would be a memorable experience in gaming and be the most addictive online game Nintendo could release.
Oh yeah, speacial Event Matches could be held to for prize money.  I like idea 2 better, but i thik the N will probably go with 1

I think what would be cool would be some sort of online fighting game where you get to customize your character, do quests and gain bonuses or items, and fight eachother and keep a record online. Then you could have all kinds of matches like 1v1,2v2, all the way up to...8v8. Your fighter could be trained in any skill...martial arts, wrestling, brawler, and some characters who want to be mages could cast spells. There could be a ladder that tells everyones ranking and of course you have to have some bad ass music playing during the fights. Maybe some Led Zeppelin! Anyway what do ya think.

a game like Sims online. but its more mature. like if you wanted to be a murderer you could, or a sex craving lonnie, or a rapist, and then have people who are cops and actually have to investigate the crimes, and have mayors who are elected, people actually grow up in the game. basiaclly LIFE ONLINE.
