Sick of Ganon?

I was just woundering if Zelda should keep using Ganon as the main villian or move on to someone else(like Dark Link?)

First of all Ganon is not always the main bad guy. In the Oracle Series he was the final boss but he didn't actually play a huge part in the story line. In Link's Awakening he didn't appear at all.
Secondly removing Ganon would be like removing Metroids from the Metroid games. Insane. You can't just discard a vital piece of a story.

actually, the metroid part of the metroid series is also feeling a tad stale.  samus has fought these things 5 times so far, soon to be 6.  she's not so much of a bounty hunter.  come to think of it, she's never hunted much bounty ever.  there's so much more nintendo could do with the character.

however, i think the ganon/link adversary is a little different, because it's not always the same hero.  plus, if you think of ganon as an evil wizard who can't be destroyed, it makes sense that he keeps coming back.  i don't recall ever hearing that the metroids were indestructible.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

For Metroid it makes sense because of the name.  When I name things that have some sort of story to it sometimes I like to be careful about it so I won't have something that gets limited because of the name.

Now for Zelda I wouldn't mind if Ganon wasn't in it at all.  Its not like the name puts limits on the idea.  The Legend of Zelda is about the LEGEND of Zelda, meaning the games are always talk of a Legend about a hero rising up to conquer the evil.  Its not about Zelda it just talks of where the legend is from, the Zelda royal family.  I also wouldn't mind them changing the hero look just as long as we can tell its that one hero.  We don't necessarily have to see that green outfit since there have been enough show of Link in Red that we are used to it.

Yeah Metroid does not make sense because she is a "bounty hunter" and does not hunt anything.

Hear hear!  I could certainly go for a new villain. . . I'm always itching for new ones.  I've also been hoping they'll do away with Andross in Star Fox.

Metroids are a bit different though, since they're just sort of the root of some problems and not usually the main villain.  The space pirates (esp. Ridley, Kraid, and Mother Brain) and the X parasite (esp. SA-X) are the primary villains in several of the games, whereas Metroids are merely a sort of background influence.  I agree that they could expand, though.
And I view Samus as less of a bounty hunter and more of a mercenary, since she seems to be hired primarily by the military, for escorts and investigations and whatnot.

I'm not alone! I was talking yesterday with my friends that Andross needed to go! What I think would be cool with Metroid is if they still shared a part in the story, but was not the main enemy. The same goes with OoT on Ganon.

Ganon could be removed from the series, but only in an extremely EXTREMELY spectacular way. You can't just suddenly remove him. There must be an explosive conclusive ending. Then we can move on.

I figure a sword through the forehead, turning into stone, then getting buried by millions of gallons of water would be enough, but whatever.

Some new villains would be cool, but inbetween OoT and WW we got two new villains, one in Majora's Mask and one in Links Awakening. Actually there are four new ones taking into account the Oracle games (not sure, haven't beaten them yet). So it isn't like Ganon has been in every Zelda game. Infact, if he isn't the villain in the Oracle games then it is nearly an even split.

Anyway, Ganon was pretty well disposed of in WW, so I'd expect the next villain will be new.

I'm not really sick of Gannon but I would kind of prefer if he was in a humanoid avatar form of a powerul evil demon or god.  I just prefer it that way for something foul that won't go away.  I have to agree with theRPGFreak on that.  As for the rest of the game like said above something different as long as it is still known as that one hero.  I would gladly accept a zelda game without link or ganon but with similar hero rising from normality and going against a great evil.

I'm still not satisfied with the 3D Ganon's we've had so far.  OoT's Ganon was really big and slow, and easy if you know the pattern.  Then you had the weird puppet master stuff in WW.  I did like the final WW battle with Ganondorf's dual swords, but it seems like it got easier in the US version.

What I want is a mid-sized Ganon similar to the one in LttP. He'd still have a fair bit of agility and he'd be wielding that three-pronged staff of his and shooting flames in all directions.  Give me a 3D Ganon fight that's intense even after the tenth time, and not some guy with a cheap weak point.

I want the skull kid again. Of all the villians skull kid is my favourite, and that goes for any tale of the monomyth. Not just in his looks or personality or anything specific, but how it combines to create atmosphere.

That would be a real twist in the tale... Ganon is an emmisary of a greater power. That could be the godess represented in the Desert Colossus.

I'm thinking that Wind Waker's sequel will have neither Ganon nor the Master Sword. They're both underwater in Hyrule, and the Daphnes said that their (Link and Tetra/Zelda) future does not lie in Hyrule or even in the formation of a New Hyrule. And so I believe he is gone for any and all cell shaded Zelda's that follow WW. They did away with Ganon and the Master Sword once in MM and I honestly believe they'll do it again. I like new lands to explore. MM was a blast. It was definitely the WEIRDEST Zelda ever. Maybe quirky is a better word? Whatever.

A coulple of people on these forums have mentioned a fourth goddess and that theory is starting to make sense to me. In OOT we learned about the creation of the world, life, and order but evil was not created by the goddesses of the Triforce. Plus the Desert Goddess just looks badass and I want to kill her reptilian self. ^_^

I would like a more LttP-ish Ganon as well, but I would want a more one-on-one sword fight like in Wind Waker than just sitting back flinging Silver/Light Arrows at him from a safe distance...The more pressure, the better! ^_^

That would probably call for Nintendo to concentrate on the fighting system a bit more.  Something like RotK or Nightmare Creatures 2.

I want an OOT-style to return. I just loved every single thing about that final battle.

In LTTP, the final battle was spectacular as well. It just all led up to that climax.

WW had an awesome ending, too. Too bad the rest of the game wasn't.

I agree with Bloodworth when it comes to OoT's final battle...The entire battle was incredibly boring, and is the reason I have played through the game dozens of times but only fully completed it 3 or 4 times...It was so anti-climactic when there was that great fight against the Iron Knuckles and then Twinrova just before...
