The term "War" is used for games such as Medal of Honour... but if your reffering to "Strategy" type games, which I think you are, then all I have to say is that the GCN isn't really for that sort of stuff.

Personally, I don't favour Strategy based games on consoles. I just leave that for the PC to handle.

As we saw with Nintendo 64's Starcraft, it was nowhere near the pure fun that the PC classic had... so I just tend to think that Nintendo has moved away from them sort of games.
But then again... I'm not one who knows much about this sort of stuff.

But if you do mean the actuall War types games, then the only things that pop to my mind are:

-Conflict: Desert Storm
-Medal of Honour: Frontline

Plus there are the few Tom Clancy games which at times arn't bad... but I rather leave them for PC.

Conflict: Desert Storm II is jolly-good fun with 4 or even 2 players, cooperatively.

The only strategy games on GC are Pikmin and Goblin Commander, that genre just isn't suited for consoles. I'd suggest a PC.

If you are talking about strategy games, or Real Time, then leave it to the computer. Everyone is right, it looses a lot of value going on the console, even they have a mouse. It takes so much memory just to play a newer type of RTS game, after you build soo much stuff. I play C&C Generals : Zero Hour all the time online, and I'm seriously never at a stop moving around and always looking around, it is one of the most up in your face RTS that have came out and it would be no fun for a console. Though Pikman was done very well, but that is a little more laid back. As for "War' games, Medal of Honor was good but a lot better for the computer. I also think that World War II and I and Vietnam FPS should also stick to the computers, due that they look the best on there. Rainbow Six has always been a good game, even though I never liked it till Raven Shield. You don't see new FPS for the computer come out for the console for a reason. I mean, MS is bringing out Doom 3 for XBox just to make money off of it, but will it be ANYWHERE close to the computer version, NO!

If you're looking for a glood RTS game on a home console, then you're a fool.

If you're referring to war games such as Medal of Honor, then yes, there are a few on here.  The amount has nothing to do with the console being "kiddy".  War games are relatively lacking on all consoles.  Being "kiddy" is much less a factor for developers to consider than potential sales are.

But if you like turn-based strategy, pick up a Game Boy Player and the Advance Wars and Fire Emblem games.

The best and most exciting REAL war game is coming very soon, it is called FULL SPECTRUM WARRIOR. It was co-designed by the US Army as a squad leadership trainer. It looks AWESOME... I've seen a bunch of gameplay videos. It was designed by the US Army for the Xbox and is coming soon. You command a infantry squad which is broken up into two fire teams. You control both fire teams and their included members ( riflemen, grenadiers, fire support weapon, etc. ) and assign each soldier their duties. I.E. having your grenadier covering a possible danger zone while having your fire support weapon covering another high danger zone.

Conflict: Desert Storm 1 turned out better on Cube than PS2.  It's not the port was crap, it's the game was just close to crap to begin with.

But Desert Storm II is quite the improvement, AND I LOVE IT! BLOW STUFF UP! GET YOUR CO-OP TEAMMATES KILLED BY PLANTING C4 ON A TANK AND BLOW UP THE TANK WHILE LYING NEXT TO IT THEN HEAL YOUR FALLEN TEAMMATE AND EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE!!

YES

I mean, you've got an assault/pointman, sniper, heavy weapons/60-gunner, and a demolitions/CQB specialist, so there's 4 jobs to take up.

I like to beg to differ. I can see it as a war game, but a heck a lot better than the MOH Series. Have you played the MOH series on the computer, or on the GC. If you only played it on the GC, then yes. On the PC though the game is a lot more in depth and is a huge running series that runs off all the others. The newest MOH coming out will blow a lot of war games away, and Call of Duty has done such an excellent job.

Call of Duty is not a Medal of Honor game, Metaphysical Spirit, bur rather a game made by ex-MoH team members.  It explains the similarities.  It's also coming out on the other consoles later this year, so you'd might want to check it out.

Freedom Fighters is an awesome game, and though it's best on the PC, then console versions are quite good as well.  Very fun game, great plot, good graphics, amazing orchestral music, etc..

Cannot stand it anymore.  Are there any war games?  Are there.

Fire Emblem looks good, though.  Dunno if there are any on GC.

Yeah I knew that. Sorry about the minor detailing. It still goes along the lines of Medal of Honor type of series game. Yeah it's a new war game, but it's closest to Medal of Honor like you were saying. It was more or less of an example of how much farther Medal of Honor can be.

I did play the MOH on a PC and I found most of the tactical situtations simply put stupid. It was far to linear, lost the laughs you found back on the original PSX versions. No matter what people say, it still feels like I am playing the PSX version of the game with better GFX which is not good. Operation Overload was, well, boring. Sure I took the time to complete it, but I got no real fun out of it.

If you took the Freedom Fighters AI against any MOH AI, Freedom fighter would win 3 to 1. FF you get to command the squad. MOH you get to watch them get killed when it is "time". FF street to street fighting was cool, you could see and feel the progress you were making trying to get to your objective while using alternative routes. While in MOH, you followed the invisible line, shot anything that moves get the hell out.

I better stop before I get carried away...

I hear where you are coming from oohboy, but the AI in MOH was just trying to get you more into the world. Why would you be able to command these people, when you weren't in that rank too? The PSX version of the game, is really taken from the PC. I'm just being technical on that one, sorry. I haven't gotten a chance to really play Freedom Fighters for a long period of time, but I see what you mean the tactical situtaions are simply put stupid, but in a lot of FPS games you follow an imaginary line of some sort. The city of snipers in MoH was a pain, but it was simple in the way that all the enemies are in the same place and it's just memorizing the level. Thats how a lot of FPS are though. I do have to admit that MoH doesn't have a re-run factor to it. Take the War at Normandy for instance... It was much more intense and challenging on the PC than it was on the PS. I also see MoH and FF two totally different games though. I can see FF being more like Rainbow Six in a way.

I would figure that you would have some pull considering that you are a LT, that is a ranking officer in the army. I guess that I hold something against the MOH series considering how much it has sold and how much lack of evolution in gameplay and experince it has gone through. I guess it is just one of the symbolels as to what is wrong with gaming these days.
