PGC is Back in the House
« on: February 09, 2004, 05:33:06 PM »
After more than a month of laborious data recovery, it's time for the PGC boat to sail once more.

It's taken a lot of hard work to get here, but I'm now ready to announce that Planet GameCube is healthy and ready to move on from its extensive technical problems, which were incurred in late 2003.

Massive amounts of data were lost in the incident, all of which had to be re-entered manually by our devoted staff.  What's more, we toiled to complete this task in the background, while continuing to provide full Nintendo coverage through our Talkback forums.  Now the recovery process is complete (or as complete as it can be), and we feel confident enough in the system to return to normal operations.  Of course, we have taken measures to make sure that such a disaster never happens again.

Starting today, you'll find new content being posted directly on the website, complete with all the usual related content links and easy access to the other sections of our website.  Most of the previously disabled content has been restored, including our entire archive of reviews, previews, and hands-on impressions.  We'll be spending the rest of this week to move recent content from the forums onto real website pages.

I'd like to thank the Planet GameCube staff for their very hard work to make this recovery possible.  It was a daunting and tedious job that couldn't have been completed with the help of just one or two people.  Everyone chipped in, and the results speak for themselves.  I'd also like to give a very special thanks to Justin Nation, who flexed his coding muscles to give us the tools that made this process possible.

With the website now fully functioning again, we turn our complete attention to the vigilant coverage of all things Nintendo.  Look for a barrage of major game reviews this week, as well as renewed news coverage and the announcement of a big new contest in anticipation of our fifth birthday in March.

And of course, we're already thick in E3 planning, working to make sure this year's event coverage meets and exceeds your high expecations.  Our big plans don't stop there, so please watch this space in the months to come.  Planet GameCube is here for the long haul, and we intend to be the best in everything we do.  Your ideas and comments are very important to us, so please drop a line in our PGC Discussion forum and let us know how we're doing and how we can improve.  And, as always, thanks for your enduring support!

We're going to try to activate Talkback for all content, but I didn't include that in the letter because it may turn out to be too difficult to implement.  Cross yoru fingers.

Awesome job.  There is one semi-critical page that is still a good weeks worth away...the release dates.  Though there are other places to get it from, just easier to get it all in one place.  Its either that or I am just that lazy, ya that it I'm lazy .

And what is this of a contest I hear?  Hmmmm, intriguing.
Pietriots, we roll out to get the lol out.

Good work getting the site back in order,  I know it would have taken lots of hard work.  In the end I bet PGC will be stronger as a result of this.

I could mention about how bad it would be if this happed close to E3 but I won't just to be safe.
