Pokemon Colosseum pre-order bonus disc.
« on: January 28, 2004, 05:46:38 PM »
From this month's Nintendo Power:

The disc will have:

1. A preview movie of Pokemon Colosseum.
2. Ability to upload Jirachi to Ruby/Sapphire. (This also fixes the calendar bug.) <-I wonder if there will be unlimited transfers.
3. Preview of new Pokemon movie.

I'm tempted to get this just for the Jirachi transfer feature.

Nintendo really is getting the hang of these pre order bonus deals.  I can't wait for this one.

Because of Ruby and Sapphire I have become a Pokemon fan.  I am getting PC because I have this strange desire to further my Pokemon love.  I wonder if Fire Red and Leaf Green will come over to US with the wireless thingies?

I doubt it; probably only one per GBA file.

Now if they'd only get the hang of spelling "coliseum" (unless, of course, the game takes place in the Colosseum in Rome).

That's pretty cool that the disc also fixes the calendar bug.  Not a bad way to ship a patch for a non-PC game.

While these pre-order promotions are pretty cool they're making it hard to resist pre-ordering a game.  Now obviously that's the whole point it's just that I usually like to read reviews before buying a game and I can't do that if I pre-order.  A once in a while promotion is cool but I don't want to feel I need to pre-order every game Nintendo makes or miss out on something major.

And a Bridget Whore.

I agree with Ian too, but sometimes you just have to go with the flow and accept things that way they are done.

the bug would cause berries to no longer grow and the lottery to not work anymore after the game has been played for a year.  I think, I may be wrong, but you could look through the news archives and you could find a more detailed explanation.

What are the chances that Pokemon Colosseum will come with the GC-GBA connector cable or whatever it's called? (Im not up-to-date with my Nintendo accessary terns)  Pokemon Stadium for the N64 came with the adapter for the controller.  Hopefully they'll throw the cable in their so i that i don't have to spend more money that i don't have. * crosses fingers *

haha.  I never played a pokemon game before Ruby and Sapphire.  I avoided the franchise for no reason other than I didn't understand it, and didn't even bother to look into it.  I wish I had, as I love it.  I hope the 2 remakes, Fire Red and Leaf Green get localized here, with or without the wireless adapters.

From the reviews it sounds like they addressed all of my problems with that old Red game I have (bad setting, weak enemies, no strategy). If it doesn't release in a crowded time I might consider grabbing it.

Your personal opinion.  However, the game is consider as an RPG and a great one at it.  Yeah, the battle system isn't as deep as Final Fastasy but the pokemon collection part is far off in its own style.  If you considered Pokemon being old then perhaps, Final Fastasy and the industry shouldn't even be twitching right now.  As far as I know, the battle system for Ruby has improved dramatically over its predecessor with 2 pokemons at a time battle.  I wouldn't be surprise if, in the future, the battle system contains 4 to 5 pokemons at a time.  This is how I see it; the future looks bright, it doesn't look dim.  Don't buy into the hype (like this one) buy into the game.
I am me and you are you.  We walk the path of Nintendo and so we are brothers.  All hail Miyamoto, our god, the heavenly father!!!

Pokemon's battle system is pretty amazing and has changed a lot yet stayed the same- and that is the beauty of it.
In Sapphire, I remember the first 2 vs. 2 battle in which I KOed my own electric type by having its partner use earthquake.  I was suprised, then angry for three seconds, then I burst out laughing because it actually makes perfect sense.
Anywho, Pokemon is another game that is the epitome of the Nintendo formula- easy to pick up, hard to master.  Honestly Black_Lable (if you haven't left for good), you should give it another honest try.  I know especially, if you lived in the States, they over-hyped and over-merchandised the first games (which actually made me sick) but they stopped that and the games have even gotten better.

I just got the bonus disc (my Wal-Mart got it in early). And after, I could only think "that's it?" Two previews and a download? Couldn't Nintendo certainly have shoe-horned in a few extra movies or seven? Oh well.
Jirachi is pretty cool, and it comes with some weird berry that increases Speed occasionally. The original trainer was "WISHMKR"... cute. It also showed a communicating with the Gamecube screen I never knew about. I just thought it was nifty. I hope Nintendo puts in more special Pokemon like this in their bonus discs... we still don't have Mew or Celebi on our R/S carts....
The movie preview was standard stuff (explosions while Ash and company ran around shouting, though it does look a bit darker than usual; this one better be in frickin widescreen) and the Colosseum preview was a lot better than the one on the Mario Kart bonus disc. I'd say it was about four or five minutes long, while a narrator explained the new features of the game.
Not bad for a freebie, but it coulda been so much more.
