Oracle of Ages, Wind Waker Connection?
« on: January 17, 2004, 01:18:36 PM »
Looking through a Nintendo strategy for the Oracle of Ages/Seasons I noticed that the three Harp of Ages symbols are the same as the three pearls that were used it The Wind Waker. I mean, I don't know if anyone has noticed, or if this is old news, but I thought it was a very interesting find.

I'm thinking that this might make the connection between The Wind Waker and Oracle of Ages stronger, and more apperent, but then again maybe it doesn't.

I doubt there's a direct correlation...It's more of a "Hey, let's put in little things that will make the hardcore Zelda fans happy" ^_^

This is really old news.  We had a thread at ZU on it months ago.  Those symbols were used before Wind Waker and the Oracle games.  Capcom decided to use them for the song symbols, most likely as an easter egg or because they didn't want to bother making something new.  Nintendo used those symbols on the pears in Wind Waker because they had been used in other games.

Old or not, this news is kinda cool .  I hadn't noticed that, and now I'm gonna hafta look back at those and see for myself.  Plus I wouldn't be surprised if in some future game Ninty makes up some meaning behind the symbols.
I've gotta say what I've gotta say, and then I swear I'll go away, but I can't promise you'll enjoy the noise.

The Sages in OoT have the same names as the towns in AoL but that doesn't mean that AoL is a direct sequel to OoT or visa versa. Yes, the idea is that the towns in AoL were named after the Sages in OoT but they are definitely not direct sequels to each other. Of course I'm not really sure which connection between WW and Oracles you were referring to so this post may be completely pointless.

I wasn't really saying that they were direct sequals or anything, I just thought it was interesting.  Although I did say it might make a connection stronger, and I still think it would. But I'm no Zelda timeline expert so I really have no idea.

By any chance would these symbols just be the symbols for Din, Nayru, and Farore?  (just a guess - not being sarcastic)

Dont you think that it is strange that in OoT, the episode closest to the arrival of the Godesses, you find no use of those symbols? Perhaps the godesses come again in a future Zelda game.
