The Next/Last Zelda Should/Should've Have/Had....
« on: December 29, 2003, 12:02:25 PM »
Ok before you even think about clicking that post button read the foillowing:

1). This is a topic where you post what ITEMS/GAMEPLAY ELEMENTS you would like to see in the next Zelda.

2). Do not post anything about what you think the next storyline will be, just the kind of gameplay.

3). Erm ...well.

4). Yeah that's  it.

Ok this is what Zelda should've had in OOT and still probably can have.

OOT: Ok is it me or do you feel like after you saved the sages you feel like a  pimp cheated out of his hos? No I didn't thought that would make sense, but what I am saying is the bloody sages seemed useless, they did two things. 1). Create that damn rainbow bridge. 2). Seal Ganondourf In The Realm. Now storyline wise that would've seemed like alot, but that was bullshit. You mean to tell me I got three stones and defeated 5 temples for the sages just to do that? Really that took the piss. "The Sage Adds His/Her power to yours" What? A bloody medallion? Thank you very much, maybe next you can give me a Wall-Mart voucher for my troubles. Anyways here's what they shoud've given you for each medallion.

Light Medallion: The abillity to move quick at the speed of light. The power up your sword with Light power making it more quicker and agile. To do various other moves with the light, maybe like super super spin attack.

Forest Medallion: I couldn't really think of much for this. Maybe the Forest Medallion could've upgraded all the deku weapons. The Deku Stick could extend, the deku shell could cover more ground. The sling shot could be bigger... I dunno. As for the sword power up maybe it could have the abillity to be a magnet to Hylian's plants (i.e. those little shrubs so you can get items like hearts/bombs/arrows attracted straight to you without having to cut it)

Water Medallion: Well the obvious thing would be to have infinite amount of time under water but the Zora Tunic is already there. Before MM's came out I would've said the power to to turn you into a Zora.. well that's pointless now. So maybe instead you could keep your Hylian body but be able to swim like a Zora. Oh yeah also you can be able to walk around in water as if you were on land without those damn iron boots. As for the sword power up it should be able let you use the master sword under water since you can't all.

Fire Medallion: Shoot out great balls of fire like with the Fierce Diety Mask in MM. The Power Up should make your sword on flames (that would kick ass) and maybe to make you roll into a great ball of fire, so you can have the same invunlerabillity like a Goron rolling.  Also when you do a spin attack you also shoot out balls of fire in all directions.

Shadow Medallion: To be able to make different Dark Links of yourself so they can fight multiple eneimies. As for the sword upgrade it could've been the Dark Sword which could attract evil like poes, making it easy for you to catch them instead of using the bow and arrow. Also with the shadow power you could be able slide past enimies without getting hit (like Akuma in street fighter)

Spirit Medallion: This would so kick ass, since it is the last medallion  it'd be cool to be able to posses enimies and actually use them as your tools. Basically you're possesing them like in WW when you posses those two allies of yours. There would be a spirit sword which could erm... hmmm....... I never really thought about that one. Maybe it would be an upgrade for the light sword.

That's all I could think of in ten minutes, hopefully you'll have more. Peace.

In the Next Zelda they should have the same items as last time but with a few additions and one removal...

Additions

DEKU STICKS
I know..yawn...deku sticks. I would like to see these again. But in a new way.
TAP BUTTON: Brings out a deku stick to use like how you use them in WW; brun stuff, hit, throw ect.
HOLD BUTTON: Goes into a 1st person mode like with the grappling hook, all you have to do is target a special hollow in teh ground and Link will use the deku stick to vault a gap or wall!

(i know ive said that before but I would very much like to see that)

OCARINA
BRING BACK THE OCARINA! Its been used in most of the games, why not make it a staple of the series! Perhaps you start with the Wind Waker and have to complete the first dungeon to get the ocarina of time. Then the Wind Waker could be passed back to the royal family (Tetra!). Fado said that the King used to conduct for the sages so why shouldnt Zelda do the same.

ANOTHER SWORD
I dont mind if it is the Bigorons Sword
I dont mind if it is a magical sword
I just want to have the choice of how I kill my enemies

CLOTHING
Tunics
Zora's Tunic - Underwater Breathing
Goron's Tunic -  Hot Places
Rito Costume - Further Jumping
Tunic of Lies - Makes you invisible to most enemies except ones that have the symbol of the lens of truth

Masks
I dont have MM so I dont know most of these, but you should be able to get at least the Oni Link mask (perhaps Link brought it back from Termina if he did ever come back)

Boots
Bring back the Hover Boots!

Hand gear
The gauntlets should return. How can Link pick up big heads with something that is only about the size of two Goron's Braclets?

Removals

WIND WAKER
{See Ocarina}

SAIL
If the HAVE to use the boat again, why not make it so that it has its OWN sail and you dont have this taking up valuble item spots!

I think  I know what you mean with the Deku Stick, basically Link throws it into a hole in a wall, high up and Link then uses his rope to throw around the stick and climb on up? Sorry if it sounds confusing.

Wow hadnt thought of that!

What I mean is you target a hole in the ground and then you get a small cutscene where Link runs at that point, inserts the stick and then uses it like a pole vaulter. This could be used to clear walls or gaps. Its just an idea!

Well the hookshot should remain a later game item. The deku sticks could be used as a very early item, perhaps even before you get a sword. There could be a mini dungeon where you have to use just deku sticks and the prize is a sword.

Haha I can't remember one Zelda game where you don't start off with a sword... speaking of swords.

Master Sword.

Big Goron Sword.

Great Fairy Sword.

The Gilded Sword.

Magic Sword.

The Razzor Sword

And God please- A Double Edge Sword. That would  kick so much ass.

You dont start any of the games with a sword, you always get is pretty early on though...

(I havnt played all of the games)

LA- You get the shield first, then you have to get the sword from the beach
OoT- You have to get past teh big boulders to get the sword
WW- You have to get the telescope and the clothes before you can fight orca for a sword
I cant remember the Oracle series though!

No, what I meant is you don't start any dungeon without a sword. You said in a mini dungeon the Deku Stick would be your sword, I meant to say you never do a dungeon without a sword.  Sorry I read you wrong. My bad.

It would only be a small level, like the Moblin Lair in LA. You could simply have to fight your way past a couple of easy enemies, vault some gaps and then face a mini boss, perhaps an armoured spider with a soft spot on top that you can stick your deku stick into, stunning the beast so you can whack its head.

Have you forgotten that in WW you do teh 1st part of the Forsaken Fortress without a sword?

True.

Nintendo should bring back:

Epona: How could those bastards deprive us of Epona? Damn them.

Paeguses Boots (sp?) : Well if they don't bring Epona this would be a good substitute.

Light Arrows: Nuff said. You only got it at the very very very end of WW, same with OOT but still.

That Thing: In ALTTP when you did something, revived or something like that your sword shot out some magic, I dunno why it did that but that was cool.

Hand To Hand Combat: Yes it may sound silly, but if Link every comes across humans it would be cool if he could use stealth and some kick and punch combos.

Im not too sure about the Pegasus boots. They work fine in 2D games but they may not be as practical in 3D versions. I agree with the sword beams bit but it again it is good in 2D but it might not be in 3D. Epona should return, or at least some form of animal companin, like the ones in the Oracle series. Those dudes were great!

They could use the seed shooter idea from the Oracles. Or they could use the seeds but in a Slingshot format. The seeds were like deku nuts but they had magical properites. You could use them from a bag or a pea shooter.

Pegasus seeds- Makes you fast, kills enemies (or turns them to stone, i cant remember)
Gale seeds- Warps you to seed trees, Blasts enemies away
Ember seeds- Lights torches, Burns Enemies
Scent seeds - Attracts Enemies
Mystery Seeds- Activates owls that give you hints, kills enemies, used in some boss battles

The pegasus seeds are not feasable in a 3D game, but the other four could be used in a slingshot or in a bag like the bait bag or the spoils bag.

Yeah. I think also in the next Zelda there should be more slots for you to use your items win real playing time, three just isn't enough and having to switch back and forth is annoying.

It is annoying to have to switch around, but there aren't that many buttons on the controller. Perhaps they could use the C Stick and the X/Y/Z buttons for items.

That would be good but that brings me to my next point. I know Zelda is about sword combat but the c-stick should be used to do more sword moves (offensive and defensive) that would kick ass.

IMO the swordplay in WW is perfect for the series. They could make it a bit fancier but I like the simple controls. The C-Stick could be used as an item storage thing but for the key items like bombs and the bow, the boomerang and the ocarina. The boomerang is used so often to stun enemies, you may as well have it equipped constantly and I find it annoying when you have to switch your items to open a door witht he ocarina and then switch the items back again. It would be a more convenient arangement, but it would mean sacrificing the sublime camera from WW. Perhaps the C Stick could be used as a camera control as usual and then If you hold down Z then you can access the key weapons as mentioned above. This would mean losing an item slot on the Z button, but in fact the Z button would have 4 items on it!

They should include a dragon for link to ride rather than a horse.  I think hyrule should be attacked with trebuchets and catapults and cannons, and then link has to destroy them all before the castle is completely seiged.  The enemy can use seige towers as well, that would be sweet!

It would make sense. Thing about it... King of Red Lions... theres no such thing as a red lion... however Valoo is red and dragons are kings of the animal kingdom like lions...

Perhaps Valoo is the last survivor of a race of dragons known as the Red Lions which lived far away in the mountains (hence the reason why they arent there in OoT). When the royal family was founded (by Link, if my theory makes it into the game ) then the dragons could swear alegience to the crown, and the king would carry the title "King of Red Lions". Maybe in WW2 if Link goes back to before OoT then he could befriend a young Red Lion who becomes his companion and can fly, but not too far becuase he is young.

EDIT

Ive even thought up some controls:
B: Mount/Dismount
C Stick: Camera
Anologue Stick: Steering
A: Fire breath
XYZ: Item buttons for using things like bombs, arrows boomerang ect like on the boat except the dragon keeps flying, like Epona used to do when you used your bow.
R/L: Flap wings. If you press this in unison then the Dragon flaps its wings. If you hold them then the dragon will glide.

New idea, new post

How about you meet Ganon as a young child, but you do not know it is him. After all, people are not born evil. You could find that out later, and see something that happens that makes him evil. Perhaps an evil spirit could change him, or he could be possesed by the "quadraforce", or even he could turn bitter because of Link being so heroic and getting all the glory. It would give ganon a better background so he isnt just an evil character who comes from the desert. If he is possesed then there could be a later game where you strive to save ganon from his evil master. Imagine ganon as a good guy...

That would have to go back in the timeline again to even before OOT. It's confusing enough as it is. And a quadraforce would mean that there would have to be a forgotten goddess that created Hyrlue. But a background story of Ganondorf's corruption would be very interesting. Kinda like how the Silmarillion explains Sauron's malice.

Or maybe, Ganon escapes again, and destroys the world, so you have to go back through time to when he was an innocent young boy, and try to stop whatever makes him turn evil so he won't destroy the world in the future.

Remember the Desert Collusus? Thats in the shape of a snake godess. Perhaps she was an evil godess who created a destructive force to spite the other godesses Faro, DIn and Nayru. I use the term Quadraforce because on one of the Hylian shields in one of the games (or a test version...i cant remember) there is an inverted triforce piece below the actual triforce.
