I just need to get this off my chest. EB completely sucks. They have 20 different games for the GC...20!!! The GC rack is on the back wall next to the ....Dreamcast!!! And then the capper, this quote: "Even Xbox has more games than the Cube, and Xbox sucks." Friend: "Xbox is better than Gamecube, yo." Can somebody explain to me why both EB and Gamestop relegate the GC to garbage status? If you say sales, then shouldn't they put it in front of the store to improve them>? With all available games? It isnt like people who want the PS2 games section wont walk in to find it for gad sake!! This just aggravates me to no end. All my games are being ordered online from now on. I hate people.

Now, time to retire to my drinking lounge....

My Gamestop is great. they have a GREAT selection of SNES games. As for gamecube, i have found staff members actually browsing the GC games.

As for EB, I don't really live near one Iso I have no clue.

Oh yeah, one time i walked in and all the kisoks were on, but the xbox kiosk hasd a gigunto cardboard ad blocking it so no one could play. haha!

My EB is wonderful- they have a ton of Gamecube games, as well as XBox, PS2, and Gameboy Advance. And the employee are some of the most unbiased at a videogame store I've ever seen- the manager in particular is great. I guess I got a special Electronics Boutique, or something.

Wow, you guys get EB... I'm stuck with Wal-Mart (get this, our Wal-Mart has a place to tie your horses and a sign that says "Horse Parking Only"... seriously). It's not too bad because they have a decent collection of games, but they need shelf space. They have the games lined up on the bottom three deep... the problem is you can't tell what games they have because you can't see the binders... the bastards. The people who work in electronics also have no clue about video games or electronics in general. It's tiring seeing people ask them a question about a stero and getting nothing but a blank stare...

An EB games store just opened in my city. It's the second gaming store here, and it's a huge improvement over it's competitor. The other store consistently delays preorders and releases, which can get really annoying. It also has a very limited stock, and always overstocks the crap games and understocks the good ones.

They both have pretty cool employees, though. They have to spend their time selling X-Box's to little kids and stuff, but they generally prefer the GC. The thing is, I have a guy from both stores who will recognize me when I walk in and say hello to me etc. I never know from which store to buy…

My local EBs (yes, multiple EBs within a reasonable distance *is happy*) are very cool. I know the manager of one store pretty well, and a few of the staff in the other one. I'm on a first-name basis, so that must count for something. They're very cool about GC games (I've played a few holes of a Mario Golf demo with one of the staff), but the stores are dominated by PS2 and Xbox stuff.

But the gamers at EB are what annoy the hell out of me. I had one kid ask me if I thought Eye-Toy was "awesome" and that just made me mad. I was going to point out the dodgy collision detection and the pathetic concepts, most of which can be played by waving your arms like a lunatic, but then I thought against it. I can't think of a good reason why...

That is so true. There are several incompetent people that work at my local EB that I could embarass for fun. There was one guy who I overheard promoting DOA:XBV, without mentioning the "jiggle engine". For shame!

I have a bunch of game stores near me, 3 EBgames, a Gamestop, and Funcoland. I only go to EB though, they rock. They have alot of gamecube games and *gasp* they are near the front!

it depends store to store i think, an EB near where mum works said The Wind Waker wouldn't be out till december here -__-, they aparently are idiots, the EB i live closer to though is pretty :cool: despite having a less than stellar cube line up.

The people that work at the EB near me actually acknowledge Nintendo exists and they even like Nintendo! The GC section their is pathetic though, but hey it's not their fault that no-one likes Nintendo down here. But at least the EB employee's are pretty cool, they know their stuff.

I have seen only one EB, and that was closed at the time I was there...

I know three kinds of retailers and we have all of them here:

Small Store: The small store is obiously the only one with actual gamers running the thing, but their prices are the highest (they don't seem to get their supplies that cheap). They're pretty cool, though. I got the Viewtiful Joe shirt for 5 cents extra after buying the game.

Home Electronics: Mega Company (and similar stores, like Media Markt and Saturn) has the best prices out of the three and a pretty large area for cube games. They also have some older games really cheap (Kuru Kuru Kururin for 10 bucks!!!) and a good selection of hardware.

Large store: Karstadt is just one of the larger all-purpose retailers (you know, those usually 4-5 floored stores selling everything except food (even that sometimes)) and neither cheap nor with a large console section. The cube section seems pretty low stocked lately, but that could be due to christmas.

I guess EB falls under Home Electronics and EBGames is a small store? Or is EB short for EB Games?

BTW, last time I was in Media Markt (Saturday) the Cube section was the most crowded, even "cool" people looked for games there.

EB is in fact EB games. I loathe them. I get into a debate with this one clerk everytime i go in there because he always asks me when im getting an Xbox. I'm too old to be arguing with a Playstation generation gamer.

In England EB was bought out by GAME which you may find vaguely satisfying. The Gamecube section is at the back but it is usually the same size as the XBox section. They dont sell SNES games but we do have another shop for that and you can get all kinds of old games, or the latest ones imported from Japan. We have 3 GAME shops in the city centre

The EB gameworld here is horrid. The stock is decent, and the ratio fits the amount of games each system has, the xbox section may be a little shafted. The employees are the problem. They are just stupid. The sales pitches they come up with are pure lies.

The EBgames in Davis, CA is decent and I like the fact their GameCube kiosk always works. Their 1080*: Avalanche shipment also arrived on-time on Dec. 2.

I haven't checked out GameStop yet, which is situated closer to the university.

One thing's for sure, accessory prices should be rediculously high in both stores.

Most major stores don't carry a lot of Nintendo stuff because they figure it doesn't sell well, and they're right. Gamecube hasn't been in very big demand, especially earlier this year, and it's only now that we're seeing sales really pick up. Hopefully with the 'Cube outselling the XBox, we'll see more games in stores, but it doubt it, as many stores consider Nintendo to still be "kiddy", which, as well all know of with the 'Cube, is compeltely false.

My local EB is for the most part quite good so the problems people speak of are really a store-to-store thing. They always have a good Cube selection and the staff are pretty unbiased. Sure the used games are a total rip-off ($5 off? Who cares?) and there's that "would you like a strategy guide" BS but that's at EVERY store so I don't complain.

However the place to get games in Langley BC is Willow Videogames. They have an amazing selection for all of the current consoles and have used games galore. They even have new stuff for the Neo-Geo Pocket! They almost always at least $5 cheaper than EB and unlike most stores they actually lower the price of older games. Places like Toys 'R' Us will still charge $60 for Conker's Bad Fur Day. At Willow it's $20. The only problem is that they don't takes pre-orders but since I've never had problems finding a game on release day (except for Midway Arcade Treasures which NO ONE seems to have) I only pre-order when it provides me with free bonus stuff.

My EB's games are always MSRP (occasionally lower), as are my Wal-Mart's games. My EB's used games are pretty cheap, too- most of the time they're even less than the sticker price, which is always a nice surprise.

Well thats asinine business to me. If GC isnt selling as well, maybe more exposure would help, not less. To me, having a GC selection of 20 games is counter productive in so many ways...its just ass backwards.

My best bet is GameStop about an hour away from here. Our local Wal-Mart still has "Eternal Darkness" listed at $50 while you can pick it up new for $15 at GameStop. GameStop has a good selection of GameCube games, and they have quite a few used games you can get cheaply... the only problem is I don't often have a day where I can throw away 2 1/2 to 3 hours just to get games.

The only problem with Wal-Mart is they shift their employees around from different departments frequently so you always have people in electronics who have no clue about what they're talking about.

I know all about putting sales on for the stuff you want to sell, and it works. However, the stores figure that Nintendo won't sell, even with the constant promotion. I take marketing class, and I know all about advertising the things you want to get rid of. However, not everyone is a marketing expert, which can account for some stores not stocking Nintendo. When it comes to video games as well, people generally stick with one brand, and storeowners know that Nintendo is less popular that the others. They also know that the average customer won't want to switch over to Nintendo, so they won't stock much Nintendo merchandise.

It's really a double-edged sword with them. Stock lots of product, and don't sell it, or stock little to save money but lose Nintendo customers in the process.

It made sense a few months ago (pre-price drop). Demand wasn't there so it made sense to have less merchandise. The problem I find with most stores or rental places that have crappy Cube selections is that they have ALWAYS had a bad selection from the very beginning. They all basically decided that the Cube wouldn't sell and thus fulfilled their own prophesy. Video stores in particularly bug me. My local Blockbuster cites the reason for having a pathetic Cube selection is that not many people rent Cube games. Of course they don't. Blockbuster has never had a good selection so everyone goes somewhere else to rent Cube games. It's like having only three DVDs available to rent and using low demand as a reason for sticking with VHS. If these stores has sh!tty PS2 selections they would never sell any of those games either.

If a store started out with a good selection and then had poor sales and had to shrink their selection then I have no problem with them. I don't think I've ever seen an example of that before though.
