Community Event: Forum February 2026

Let's see now. Where did I leave that thread? Oh, there it is...

It's been 4 years already?! My how time goes by when one isn't paying attention.

Not sure how much of an event it could be but let's see what might happen. It feels like there's a sentiment of people wishing the forums could be a bit more active or wanting to post here a bit more but wondering if it would be worth it without much response. So, perhaps, for just one short month, we can have a brief spark of activity for awhile.

If you have forgotten about Forum February, here's all that it is about. For the month of February, the goal for participants is to make 3 posts on the forum per day. (Mafia Game and Safe Words Game related posts don't count. :'( ) Posts can be as big or small as you want. Even if the post is just a response that "I enjoyed playing (insert game title)" to someone else's comment. That counts. That's a valid post. It doesn't have to be a Khushrenada Special (aka ten paragraph wall of text). Because even a simple post like that may be the spark for someone else to decide to post something and carry on a discussion or trigger some point they'd like to share.

Chances are that new posting will trigger some other comments from users not involved in the event. Who knows how much activity we could spark for a few weeks? Was there a topic you've had on your mind for awhile but just never got around to creating? Here's your chance. Was there a topic you've always meant to respond to but never got around to it? It's time has arrived! Got a lame joke for the Funhouse you thought was too stupid? Post it now under the cover of helping participate in this event.  ;D

Maybe there's a game you finally got around to playing and then checked the review for it on NWR and would like to respond but it's been months or years since it was put up. Go ahead and make a post for it. I know there's been an "unwritten rule" about bumping Talkback threads. For the month of February, the restriction will be lifted. Truthfully, I'm pretty sure that commenting on a review or some other feature that could be years old would still make that writer of the piece glad to see someone cared about their effort and they got some more feedback on it. And I think that is worth allowing some bumping in Talkback.

I've meant to try this event again the past couple years but would remember much later in February from being busy or just wondering if it would have any impact like last time at this point. But this year, I remembered early enough and decided to take the plunge and see what happens.

What I didn't realize until just now is that the first (and up to this point, only) time this event happened, it was also as the Winter Olympics were happening. And by doing this four years later, those darn Olympics are happening again. I tied into that event a little bit at the time so it can easily tie into this event again now.

I thought by doing this as a Community Event with other users taking the plunge to commit to make 3 posts a day that we can cheer each other on and support the other users doing this. (Which would mean making a post. This event is just so easy!) Last time this event happened, it was with three weeks left in February so I created a way to achieve a certain medal level for posting based on that amount of time. Which means in three weeks, if a user were to make 1 post per day then that means a participant in this event can be a Bronze Medal Forum User at 21 posts for the month, likewise a Silver Medal Forum User would have to hit 42 posts for the month for an average of 2 posts per day and a Gold Medal Forum User would achieve 63 posts for the month and meet the 3 posts per day goal.

With this event starting early than three weeks left in the month, will the posts needed to achieve a medal level change? No. It was hard enough for users to reach medal levels back then so I won't make it tougher now even if it means the average might be a bit below the rate needed per day to still acquire these medals.

What if a user posts more than 3 posts in a day? Great! You’re getting ahead of the game and those can all count to your grand total. What if a user doesn’t post anything for a couple days? No problem. There’s no disqualifications and maybe they can make up those days later on and still reach the 63 post goal. Can a user post more than 3 a day or a total of 63 posts? Of course. Don’t hold back from posting if you’ve got more you want to discuss. This isn’t a limit but just a simple minimum. Heck, if you think you can suddenly post 400 messages during the month then go for first place in this event. Just don’t be spamming. What if I just post 10 messages this month? You’re still a winner. Because no matter how much is posted, all users win by seeing an uptick in posting for the month of February.

I am up. Or down? This will not count as one of today’s three posts.
Will Evan_B ever create something worth appreciating? Stick around and find out!

Don't mind me. I've just been posting walls of text no one reads for years.

That's really what separates the forums from something like Discord. I love our Discord, but there's no real place there for the kind of depth you can get with a long forum post. And I only don't read them when they're Khush's posts.
