I’m almost embarrassed to admit my numbers.

Almost.

I played 95 games this year with a total 964 hours. Gross!

My top three game play times this year were:
1) Pokémon Legends Z-A: 163 Hours
2) Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition: 98 Hours
3) Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma: 91 Hours

My top genre was “Action,” which is incredibly vague as a descriptor, but okay.
January: Korg Gadget for 8 hours.
February: Crypt Custodian: 10 hours
March: Xenoblade X: 23 Hours
April: Xenoblade X: 51 Hours
May: Xenoblade X: 23 Hours
June: Mario Kart World: 17 Hours
July: Rune Factory: 48 Hours
August: Rune Factory: 36 Hours
September: Daemon Ex Machina: Titanic Scion: 18 Hours
October: Pokémon Legends Z-A: 69 (acceptable) Hours
November: Pokémon Legends Z-A: 73 Hours
December: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond: 46 Hours

I’ll have to upload my stats somewhere so that I can do a direct link.

Based on your games, your top genre should be RPG right? I am curious what the possible game types are.

Tried to put some more time into Switch gaming this past year, especially once I got my Switch 2 and had a more pleasant way to play them.

19 games. 367 hours.

Action was my favorite genre, which is rather perplexing considering the games I played on Switch this year.

January - Kirby & the Forgotten Land - 20 hrs
February - DKC Returns HD - 15 hrs
March -> June -  Nothing
July - DK Bananza - 14 hrs
August - Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - 39 hrs
September - Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - 21 hrs
October - Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - 14 hrs
November - Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - 77 hrs
December - Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - 75 hrs

As you can probably guess, my main goal in the latter half of the year was to get to Xenoblade 3 by finally completing my 8 year odyssey to force myself through the (total piece of ****) Xenoblade 2.

:o
It was a lot of returning to already purchased games, particularly a number of Switch releases on my Switch 2, in hopes of seeing base performance enhancements on the new hardware. But yes, I own way too many Switch games.

I am now planning to get caught up with the series myself. I have only played X but just acquired the first game and might be caught up in 8 years or so.

Good luck. Each of those games is at least 100 hours long, far more if you intend to do the side content and DLC. And you do need to play each of the numbered games in order.

23 games and 536 hours.

Top 3

Xenoblade Chronicles X - 149 hours
Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth - 81 hours
Blasphemous 2 - 48 hours

The thing says my top game is Action because I technically played more Action games, but the majority of my time was spent on RPG's.  Xenoblade, Digimon Story, Bug Fables literally make up over half of my game time for the entire year.

January - Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana - 31 hours
February - Bot Vice - 8 hours
March - Xenoblade Chronicles X - 16 hours
April - Xenoblade Chronicles X - 42 hours
May - Xenoblade Chronicles X - 10 hours
June - Xenoblade Chronicles X - 36 hours
July - Xenoblade Chronicles X - 35 hours
August - Mario + Rabbids - 16 hours
September - Bug Fables - 32 hours
October - Blasphemous 2 - 48 hours
November - Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth - 72 hours
December - Metroid Prime 4 - 47 hours

This year I really need to make up the slack on my backlog.  Just a small handful of games made up the majority of my time last year.  I think I'm going to make 2026 the year of smaller indie titles because some of the larger games I played last year really made me feel burned out by the end.  Didn't help that I had a lot of stuff going on at work and at home in the first half of 2025 so I didn't have much time to play games which is why I ended up playing nothing but Xenoblade X for over 4 months straight.

So yeah my goal is to play at least 50 games this year.  I want to get a large variety of games played again before I jump back into any length RPG's.

I think it’s very likely that Nintendo considers non-turn-based RPGs as “action” games, particularly Xenoblade and also Legends Z-A.
