Harvest Moon: FOMT
« on: December 11, 2003, 02:57:09 PM »
I've heard a lot of great things about this game, but I haven't played it, or any other game in the series.  Judging by the reviews, I think it's a game I'll like, but clarify this for me; is this game totally wickedly addictive, or does it just plain suck?  THNX!

PS It seems a lot like Animal Crossing, and I luved that game, so this is probably a game for me...

The only problem is that this game will be extremely hard to find, like other Natsume games.

i was thinking about picking this game up, but i'm curious as to how different the gba game is then the gamecube version? obviously the gc version will look better but i'm taking about gameplay. I havent played harvest moon much, but from what i understand they all basically follow the same ideas and themes. Should i just forget the gba version and buy the upcoming gamecube game? will it actually be worth while to buy both games and put the connectivity feature to use?

I dont know theres enough good GBA games out now where you can just sit and wait for the GC version to come out and get reviewed a few times.

Harvest Moon for GBA is getting mixed reviews.
date site name     link article                          score
12-08-2003       Game Zone                            8.5 / 10
11-26-2003       Gamespy                                2 / 5
11-24-2003       IGN                                         8.9 / 10
12-01-2003       GamePro                                 4 / 5
12-08-2003       1UP                                         6 / 10
12-01-2003       netjak                                     9.2 / 10
11-25-2003       Nintelligent Network              8.5 / 10
11-22-2003       N-Insanity                                9 / 10

The big websites, such as IGN and Gamepro, have given it awesome reviews. The lower scores are from people who obviosly don not enjoy this game whatsoever, which is evident in thier reviews. If you like Harvest Moon or Animal Crossiing, buy this game. Good luck finding it.

I have this game.  It's awesome.  And it is different enough from the upcoming GC HM for you to get both games.  It is similar to AC in a few aspects, but really I find it better because it goes on for a long, long time, and the characters are much more developped and deep.

Thnx for the feedback.  I did end up buying the game, and I'm not at all disappointed.  I just have one question: HOW DO YOU RIDE YOUR HORSE!??!  If age matters, I received it on SP4 (my current game is at AU3).  I brush it every day, I talk to it every day, and I want it to be ready for the upcoming Horse Race.  Help?

I think it takes over a year, at least, for it to mature.

I love harvest moon FOMT, and ive wasted far too much time on it already (3rd summer) great game, very addictive.  I got lucky and found it at a gamestop.

I'm very curious what the GBA/GC link is, and also what the added american extras for the GC game are...

but, anyway, great game, but i still prefer harvest moon 64's smaller map...
though this game is much deeper.

i just got this game today- sat down at 4pm- didnt stop until now- the game is a total blast- i love these types of relaxing games- i mean who would think that the concept of farming in a game could be so much fun- oh yeah- the characters in the game are great too- this game is worth it if you can find it anywhere

i've got a question that i hope someone can answer.  how is this game played out?  is it like animal crossing in real time?  or each time you go back to play, is it right where you left off?  that was one of the only things i didn't like about animal crossing.  you have to play it almost every day.  of course it's a great excuse to play some video game every day then.  i kinda have the same question for the GC HM that's coming out.  will it be real time?  or just play as you go?  i think that's going to be my determining factor in buying either one of them. thanx

HM is NOT real time.  As you would say, it's 'play as you go'.  In HM FOMT, you can save whenever/wherever you want, and a day lasts about 5-10 minutes realtime. (estimation)

yeah- in the gba game- 10 minutes in the game goes by in about 5 seconds so it is not based on real time- but it is lots and lots of fun

I'tried for a moment. It's a great game on GBA .
But  It's seem so similar with PS one Harvest Moon: Back To The Nature. It's so identical, Is the story same?
then, the secret items and moments will be same with Back to Nature?? can I used similar playing methods with PS one versions (couse I've played that one)?
Help Me Please.

it has to be 50 years, ive been married nearly a year and i have no vacatoin house in th e mountains, actually, shes just in her third stage of pregnancy, so im going to be a father soon ^_^
(I married Popuri)

Money is no longer an issue for me, im just working on getting recipies right now (3rd year) i found out that..
A. harvest sprites are your best friend.
B. eggplants make an absurd amount of money.

anyway, awesome game, i can't wait for the cube one... the deepness of this one has allowed me to continue up to my 3rd year and not feel bored, im going to try and finish getting my cursed tools uncursed, and then see how things go.. maybe mystic tools by next year? =p

Kirby: this game is more than just "totally wickedly addictive" go read the reviews of the N64 one, this game is the equivalent of videogame heroine addictive.
