Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicle Thread
« on: December 10, 2003, 04:06:07 PM »
OHH! I've been craving for this baby a long time, since I saw the E3 footage. This game looks awesome, with it stunning graphics and great looking multiplayer. I've been waiting a while for the return of FF to Nintendo, and on Feb 9 it will be mine. I am most looking foward to the multiplayer. Wanna here what you people think about it.

Yea, it looks interesting.  In terms of visuals, its very sharp.  Its a welcome addition to the Cube.  Not many RPG's on Cube, so I guess we are lucky to be getting one of this calibur.

Well from what I heard the game does not rely to heavily on story telling. Anyway you have the import version ( dont you Bloodworth ? ) , so why dont you give us your opinion on the game. ( please )

If the one-player mode turns out to be long and fun, I'll get it. I don't have the resources to play multi-player

I think the single player will be fun as well. Provided the gameplay isn't just fighting, and the puzzles aren't switch pulling caliber, and the story is at least good, I think it will be fun. I think Chronicles being real time was a good idea.

i think that the multiplayer will be the best part. It will be better for a lot of people since you don't need all 4 people to play. I will only be playing with my brother, otherwise it would suck cause i can't round up 4 people to play this game.

I actually am doing a review on the game, it's just been slow-going since it doesn't come out until February, and I've had plenty of other more urgent reviews.  I've given my opinion several times in different threads though.  Multiplayer is certainly what the game was designed for, but I've been playing single player, and I still like it a lot.  There isn't really much in the way of puzzles, you are basically trying to find all the treasures in a dungeon and navigating your way to the end.  Story takes place as small events along the road when you're traveling.  It has a gorgeous art style and a wonderful soundtrack.

All I can say is...thank god for Square.  Although I don't play games quite as much as I used to, the Gamecube thus far (much like the 64) hasn't had too much of a rock 'em sock 'em RPG lineup.  This will be one exciting game.

It sorta begins the RPG Landslide though, what with Baten Kaidos, Tales of Symphonia, and... wait theres only three, but thats huge for the Cube and they all sound like great games. I guess theres PSO3, Giftpia, Harvest Moon, and Pokemon Colosseum due out too. It should be a good year for the genre. Just being able to play Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga on my GBP has been nice enough though.

There's no reason it shouldn't allow two players.

Yeah, but playing with only two people is probably the most difficult combination.  With one person you get a helper to hold the bucket.  Having two people isn't all that different except that you switch off who's holding the bucket, but that person can still get hurt and drops the bucket when attacked, etc.  It may just be a matter of changing strategy, but if I were you I'd try to get at least one more person to play with you.

I have been waiting forward to this game like cows have been waiting forward to the revolution of vegans. Neither have happened yet, but both are surely going to happen - sooner or later. The difference between these two events is that we know the date for Chrystal Chronicles, as in we are not sure whether the latter happens tomorrow or ten years from this very date.

Looks crisp, sounds fantastic and the hear-say has been very positive. Can not wait any longer!

The game is ok single player, but if you can play multiplayer, then do it!! Yea as has been said you can play with only 2 players, but remember each player must use a gba, not a standard cube control. And id also suggest using 3 or 4 players, alot more fun that way, not just easier imo. Approx 2 months till the english release in US, hmm a PAL date still hasnt been heard of, or have I missed something?

Any of you guys know the replayability and length for single player? Most of my friends do not want to purchase a GBA just for this game.  I looked at the IGN videos... vividly reminds me of Kingdom Hearts for the PS2.

Well playing single player, youll get bored way faster then you will in multiplayer, but if you havent played multiplayer and only experienced single, itll proberly last you about the same amount of time, tho if you've played multiplayer, there's no goin back! Well there is, but ull find it gets quite boring

Because it IS Urashima Keitaro from Love Hina.

That pic looks like it was taken from the episode where he and Naru took a trip to Kyoto.

PS: the sites going thro major updates, so it might look a little weird and a few bugs, but the review is working, which is what the point of this post was.

The newly launched official FF:CC website is pretty cool. Is that video trailer being shown in cinemas?

Hey look, you get a free GBA-GCN link cable for pre-ordering it. Isn't that nice.

No, you do not. There is no Gameboy version. You don't need any game in your GBA while playing.
