A while ago, I heard that Camelot were doing a GC game. I'm not sure if that was even going to be a GS game, or whether they are still doing that GC project at all.

But they'll definitely do a GS3 sometime, its just not been announced.

i thought i read somewhere that they were going to be making golden sun into a trilogy.  this was back when the second one came out.  i haven't heard anything about it since then.

also, i've never played the games at all, so i don't know how nicely they wrapped up the storyline in the second one.  from my limited understanding, the heros had to destroy 4 towers, two of which were destroyed in the first one and the remaining two in the second one.  so that seems to close the storyline fairly well, unless some greater evil was unleashed upon the world at the end of the second one.

maybe someone who has played the games would be better suited to answer this question.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Well, I expected my progress to be at 33% when the first one suddently ended, but I boycott the second so I don't know whether there is a great evil unleashed after all four towers are activated. However, the rules of CRPG-stories dictate the existance of this evil.

It's a shame that you boycott the second one...GS has one of the finest RPG stories I've ever played through...

Basically, the group could choose one of two things...1) Have the world die a slow death by erosion...or 2) Save the world, but release the power of alchemy upon the world starting wars, strife, etc...They chose 2 to stop the destruction of the world...I believe the next game will pick up where some of these wars are starting...

So after the Mars star was dropped into the tower, the power of alchemy was released...The towers were destroyed, and Jenna's parents and Isaac's dad revive...They go back to Vale, to find out it was destroyed, though everyone from the village is safe...Alex, who had been pursuing the power released by alchemy, was held back by some force (to an eternal punishment, I assume)...

Perhaps in the next game, Alex finds some way to release his "curse"...

Yeah GS2 was one kick butt game and I think they ended it the way they did because they probably werent sure if they would have the time to ever do a third one. The way I see is that the intended to be a trilogy but they had something else to do so they made the ending go either way. If there is a third one then we know who the villian is, if there isn't then we know what happened to Alex.

Bill: Yeah, I expect it to be very good, however, I have sworn to never buy another part of the series after the first one just ended without warning, conclusion, etc. Okay, more exactly there was a train of thought that started at "Are they f###ing kidding me?" and ended somewhere at "Somebody line 'em up and kill 'em!". They could at least have mentioned that GS was an episode, not a full game. And the price is just outrageous for what amounts to the intro of the game. The times of Shareware are over, you know?

Oh please, the game is complete even if the story wasn't resolved.  The first game was quite long enough to warrant full price.

Anyhow, I believe that they are planning to continue the Golden Sun series and want to do a console version someday, but it was back in May when we talked to them, so my memory is a bit foggy.

Your memory's a bit foggy?  I think you know less about Nintendo than the average 10 year old does.

If a game invokes anger in me that's the easiest way to get my dismissal. FF8 and Counterstrike are the worst games I know judging by the amount of anger I felt. There are ways to make an ending feel right, like the big explosion of the Death Star. There are ways to make incomplete end expected, like in Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring which was clearly labeled as the first part of a trilogy. GS did neither. Had they called it GS Episode 1 I wouldn't complain, but they didn't.

Hmmm... I'd have to agree with Mr.Bloodworth on the fact the GS1 was enough of a game in itself. I take it KDR_11k would prefer something like the dot.hack series? Where you knew that the next installement isn't that far off? Sega's Shenmue is in that vein, though part III is in limbo, but that's another story...

Maybe a console Golden sun in the next generation?

I seem to remember the guy whos the big cheese of camelot said something like "how would you guys like to see a golden sun on the GC".  But it makes no sense to me to have a story line on one console and then turn the next instalment to a totally differnet system.

I'm all up for a part 3, I own both GS/GS:Lost Age

I don't know about the last bit about Alex.

SPOILERS!!!!:..............................................................

In the end of Lost Age, Alex goes to where you first got all of the elemental stars in the first game. apparrently he went there to gain all the power of alchemy.

With his new found power, he believes he is immortal and haves power infinity. Thus he attacks the Guardian ( the one eyed stone ) to prove a point. But unfortunate for Alex, The guardian nullifies his magic and talks to Alex about power and that  Issac has more power than him ( Alex) apparently Issac has the Mars star still with him or something like that.

Then the guardian leaves, but before leaving states to Alex that he will see him again, if he surrvives. We see Alex weakened and lying on the ground as the mountain crumbles, thus the game ends there.

So apparently this begs a sequel wouldn't be far off, although would it be GBA or GC or 'N5' no one knows.

Intresting none the less.

Played the first one but never got around to the sequal, but from what I've heard, doesn't the sequal tie up the loose ends?

The Ending of GoldenSun 2 has one of the best plot twists I've ever seen, and therefore because of it, the 3rd game (which im betting will be made, without a doubt) will most likely be in a far differently shaped world than the first 2.

I also can't wait... I enjoyed both games to the point of playing them roughly 20 hours after they were finished to find the last items, all the djinn, etc. and I can't wait to see what the third game will entitle.

sadly, its still a long ways off... and i really haven't heard of camelot doing anything since then except for the Mario Golf/Tennis gamecube games...
