Zelda Bonus Disk Question
« on: November 15, 2003, 10:00:57 PM »
This might be a dumb question but how exactly do you get the zelda collection disk? Has it come out yet? I heard something about subscribing to nintendo power but I don't know when. I got to have it.

Click here. Now read everything on that page. I think that should get you started.

Oh by the way from what I have been reading the in game text intro for LoZ and AoL has been changed in the bonus disk. They haven't actually re-translated the intros but more than likely just fixed up the Engrish. Just as a quick example in the in game intro for LoZ Ganon was spelled "Gannon". On the bonus disk LoZ it has been changed to the proper spelling "Ganon". This should prove to all the tards out there that "Gannon" and "Ganon" aren't two different individuals. Stupid people and their stupid Zelda theories. Unfortunately it sounds like the rest of the in game text has been left the same.

Also this will dissapoint some of you but that little Zelda History thing isn't what it sounds like. It's just a movie showing in game footage from all the Zelda games and that's it. No commentary or anything that would actually be worth while.

I went the registration route.  I registered my Cube and two games.  But nothing really happened.  Is there something else I need to do?  I already have the Zelda Disk from preordering Wind Waker, but this one has MM in high res and hopefully a solid framerate this time.  Anyone know if the shakey framerate from MM on the N64 has been fixed?

Just be patient, you should be getting an email pretty soon...If you don't get one by tommorrow, you should send an email...

And yes, I believe the framerate has been fixed, yet it is slightly buggy(Ninty even states that there are some small audio glitches in the manual due to the difficulty in porting the game)

From my understanding the frame rate is the same on MM as it was on the 64. The only thing that's been changed with the MM is that it has higher resolution. There's also some problems with the music wanting to skip when entering a new area. Unfortunately it seems it was a quick and sloppy port.

It's free, so quit complaining...

But anyways, no harm done to me...MM is the game I cared for the least...I crave LoZ and AoL... ^_^

I'm not complaining. He asked about the resolution and frame rate and I let him know much like you did.

Heh.  My first NP magazine had Final Fantasy on the cover.  I was quite pleased when I saw that EXACT magazine in 8-bit theater.

Yep.  You are either quite the young 'un, or the rest of us are just old coots.  I complain to the waitress at Boston Pizza about my rhumatism every time I am in, so....

But yeah... I got my disc by registering Mario Kart and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga.  They confirmed its shipment to me this week sometime.  I hope to get it next week.

Well on the N64, MM was designed to run at 24fps, but when alot was going on, the framerate would bottom out as low as 5fps.  What I was asking, is if the framerate is now locked at 24fps?  And the audio thing happened with the preorder bonus disk also, but it happens rarely, so its not a big deal.  High-res goes a long way in OoT, so hopefully its the same for MM.  I cant wait for my copy, I never owned the Zelda's on the NES either, so that will be nice.

I think it's been about 13 years since I last got nintendo power. What a coincidence. My bonus disk shipped nov. 20 and I still haven't got it. It should be coming any day now.....

Majora's Mask N64 framerate (as with Ocarina's and Mario64's and countless other N64 games' framerates) was 20fps maximum, not 24fps.

Will Majora's Mask be on a bonus disk?  I hope so, that would be fun to play again.  The should have a master quest Majora's Mask to.  That would be kinda cool.

Yes, MM is on the disc, at a higher resolution. There isn't a master quest, it's just a strait port. Master Quest for OoT was only released because it had already been developed but not released.
