Oh My God.
Did you guys see the end of that presentation?
Sony are planning a worldwide presence, or even dominace in EVERYTHING we do.
Our electronics, our games, our movies, our music.......our life
And that ending phrase:
'Sony is always beside you'
It sends a shiver down my spine.
The PSP actually looks cool, and if you know me, you would know that I NEVER like anything form Sony or MS. But it does look cool. And that screen looks good too.
I really don't know what to say about the size, cause there really is nothing to go by.
And there is one thing that I noticed.
That PSP won't be a pocket sized handheld.
No.
Did you notice that little wristband (or necklace depending on how big you think it is)? Sony wants the player to have the PSP outside of the pocket, so everyone can see you have one. You are cool. People will come up to shake your hand, but BUPBOW! You are playing PSP. NO HANDSHAKE FOR YOU! They don't want their product to be 'hidden' in your pocket. They want people to see you have it. That you are not afraid to show it, not afraid to play it in public.
Of course, that is all a glorified way of saying "our product is so big the only storage space you can put it in is your own two hands. No pocket, briefcase, PC tower or luggage bag can contain one. The thing that can is the box it came in, but we don't think people will think highly of you if you carry that around.
Of course, that means they when you go outside, the only thing you can do is play the PSP, but hey, that's a sacrifice we've had to make in order to create the most impossibly powerful and complex manmade machine, which also happens to be impossible large for a handheld".
I think the PSP is going to suck people in. With the advent of greater, more advanced technology that can fit into a pencil tip, there will always be a competitor to Nintendo and the Game Boy. But Nintendo have to do something to make their next GB something special. It can't just play games. Or else it will be left behind with the crowd, and no one will buy it, sort of.
