Electromagnetic Tsunamis and the Wavebird
« on: October 30, 2003, 01:46:36 PM »
Ok, as I'm sure all/most/some of you already know, Earth was yesterday bombarded with the most powerful electromagnetic storm in recorded history. (I realize that the cromagnons weren't as accurate in their forecasting of these storms but according to Dr. R. Keeolujist they could still tell how powerful they were.) Today, (and I have NO idea whether or not the e-storm is over) I tried to use my Wavebird like I always do. By turning it (and my Cube) on. Well something funny (or as I call it, annoying as hell) happened: it didn't work. The controller light lit. The receiver and transmitter were both set at 1. I NEVER change this with the exception of today. I tried it at 16 each and 14 each. NOTHIN. Then I tried a different receiver both set at 1 again. NUTSIN! I then walked away in defeat while the Wavebird accepted the Championship Ring and Belt. Does anyone have and extensive knowledge on the effects of the solar flare storm on radio waves? I really wanna use my Wavebird. This. Is. Annoying.

Yeah, geomagnetic storms disrupt radio waves by releasing a wide spectrum of radio noise(which is most likelyy interfering with the waves being sent from your Wavebird to the receiver)...There's nothing you can do until it dissapates...

Huh. Well that sucks. Why the hell didn't Nintendo create a radio wave impervious to geomagnetic storms when they were developing the 'Bird in their underground lab? Seriously that is SO short-sighted of them.

When will the storm end? I think it's giving me headaches. No wait, that's me getting angry because the universe seems to have Wavebirds. I'll down like 13 Tylenol and feel better for a week. (It's amazing what a little Ibuprofin can do before you run a race. Truly spectacular.)

I think my wave bird's batteries were dying, so I switched to a regular controller a while ago.  Just as well I suppose.  I was playing SSX 3, and I noticed that the character wasn't doing exactly what I wanted her to, and my hypothesis was... need more batteries, and my response was to pause, unplug the wavebird and slap in the regular controller in one swift motion.

Grey Ninja: Master of the Sleight of Hand.

You know what I just realized, this storm thing REALLY sucks 'cause I'm going to a Halloween party tomorrow and my friend only has 3 controllers, so he asked me to bring one, and I don't WANT to bring the friggin' corded one!!! Damn universe.

My cordless mouse desynced two times during that period, but after pressing the resync button it worked again.

You mean its not over yet? Jeez. Well, my Bird is operational once again so the intensity must have died down. Mr. KDR, would you be so kind as to enlighten me as to what "desyncing" is?

I had no problems, but then again I have covered my room in aluminum foil so aliens and the government can't read my mind.
