I'm an idiot...
« on: October 28, 2003, 01:18:19 PM »
I just got PN03 and Viewtiful Joe, and I really like both. But right now I have two months working, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., monday to friday, and I don't have enought time to play any, worts even, I haven't finished F-Zero GX, NBA Street Vol. 2 and Soul Calibur II, and to make all any worts, I still live with my parents XP (not because I wanted to, but becuse I'm planning my Master Degree) and can't play freely. I realize I'm an idiot while, going from work to my house, I was planning if I'll buy FIFA 2004 and NFS:UG or THUG or True Crime Streets of LA, when I remember that I have unfinished games (my only truly finished game is Eternal Darkness. Take this advice, don't buy games just because they are available and you like them if you don't have time to play, without forgeting other things.

Not me...Even if I have little time I get them so I will have them when I do have time...That way I don't have to worry about going out and buying it once the urge arises

Well, you could be a little more happier in simply knowing you're supporting those respective game makers.

Well, seeing it that way, I feel a little better. I just hope some day I become one and have some support.

In my mind, when I buy a game I don't say to myself, "Will I finish this game?"  I think, "Will this game be fun while I am playing it?"  That is how I choose the games I buy.  Besides some games take a long time to beat.  Also, do you consider "beating" a game to mean beating the main mode, or unlocking everything there is to unlock?  Because it is darn near impossible to unlock everything in games like Timesplitters 2.

You're not alone. I have a full time job AND about a dozen games I haven't finished yet. Which is why when Nintendo's next system comes out, I'm waiting a year to buy it... not only to take advantage of any price drop, but also because I'll have a huge backlog of Cube games I need to finish.

I am in the same boat, I finished Eternal Darkness once through and am now half way through the second.  But, the cube has had a huge influx of good games recently and it is hard to keep even the play time with the buy time.  Oh well, it is not really a bad situation to be in, could be worse could be no good games to play.

Yo.

That's right, back in the N64 days, I got wait even around 3 months to get a new game, due to lack of support and quality games (did I ever mentioned that I finished TLOZ: OT around 8 times and Castlevania 64 around 5)

I always have a lot of games on my plate that I haven't finished.  A lot of it has to do with the fact that a few years ago I went crazy buying old SNES games so I have a TON of those games to finish.  Probably like 30 of them.  I also bought the N64 and PSX years after they came out so I have a big backlog of unfinished games there too.  For the first year of so of the Gamecube's life I actually managed to finish every game I owned but because of the increase of games available and competition for my time with SNES, N64, PSX, and GBA games it makes it a lot harder to finish everything.

In order to catch up I think I'm just going to stop playing everything except the Cube and GBA for a while to catch up and stop buying older games (unless some obscure game like Ogre Battle shows up).  For a little while I was seriously thinking about buying all three consoles next generation at launch but I've since come to the conclusion that I would never have enough free time to make it worth the money.  Game droughts suck but they did allow me to have enough time to unlock the sound test in Super Smash Bros Melee.

I think The Omen points out something true in his other topic. As you grow up, you have less free time, because you are tie to work, or because you have different interest. I know people, hard-core gamers, that finished games in a week, and now they barely play, and even then, they preffer open-ending games, or they stuck with one kind, mostly racers, strategics and simulators. I think that's appening to me, except that I prefer old-school games.

Boy, if you guys are in the same boat, I'm at the bottom of the ocean. I had been having trouble in high school, so my parents won't let me get a job, but I have plenty of time to play (and finish) my games. Unfortunately, I have now money to buy anything new. I don't know about you guys, but I work on a kind of cycle where when I get a new game, it gets me interested in my old games that had gotten boring. So, in a reasonable number of words, I have plenty of time to play games I'm bored with, and no money to buy new games. But, I digress...
