Need gamecube help

I recently had a gamecube given to me for free well it works for 15 minutes and then says there is and error... well i tried 3 diff games all with the same end. so i figured id post here cuz maybe someone would know wut it is. i dont have the money to pay for a repair and if i have to let it sit.... so be it but some help would be great.

Yeah my gamecube does the same thing.  It pisses me off.  I once contemplated murdering that purple little box, but just couldnt bring myself to doing it.  Ill have to deal with it until I can purchase another one.  

What works for me is opening and closing the lid until it starts to work.  This is the reason I hardly play cube anymore.
