I guess so, Dan, but the link he provided was to a thread on Gamefaqs where people were answering ym exact query. Ah well, the point is I got past the part, thanks to Bill and Gamefaqs. Just starting Episode 6 now.

speaking of episode 6, how the heck does one beat fire leo?  i've read all the info available on gamefaqs and i still can't seem to get through the cycle more than two times in a life.  anyone have any advice?

also, did anyone else find alastor painfully easy?  i'm playing on adult, and he's the only boss i've managed to beat the first time through.  in fact, i only got hit once--by his flying swords--and that's because i ran out of vfx.  did everyone have such an easy time with him, or did i luck out?
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

If you've managed to get on fire and hit him, just hit him until his shield is gone and he starts spinning.  At that point, you can either use slow to dodge his attacks until he's dizzy or simply jump above him and zoom in to ground-pound, following up with spin kicks until he swings and you do a Viewtiful Forever.  Then get out of his way until you can do it again.  If he gets you cornered against an edge, just slow and jump over him.

And, although I found Alastor to be easier than the others, I certainly didn't beat him in one try.  I say you lucked out.

Yeah, Alastor was pretty easy, but it was nice having a boss-homage to Devil May Cry, one of my favorite games in recent times.

I'm having problems with the Rhino Man in Episode 6- I know how to beat him, the trouble is just acting on that knowledge, without dying so much.

Shrek is a great movie, and one that is perfect for quoting, much like Austin Powers, South Park and The Simpsons.

Anyway, what i wanna ask is:
I've beaten Another Joe (just got the game yesterday) and i noticed that he does that mach speed attack where there are heaps of him floating arround attacking me or blowing up. I have the second (forgot if i forgot the third) Mach Speed upgrade, and the descriptions for it say that it allows you have two of youself around or something. I use mach speed, but none of that is happening.
How do i do that?

Termin8: You have to actually fight someone while using Mach Speed. You ca't just run around.

Yeah, Another Joe's tricks are a bit more advanced than yours, but if you attack someone with Mach Speed, you should notice nearby enemies and objects being effected as well.

Alright, lets see if we can fix some problems:

Quote

I'm having problems with the Rhino Man in Episode 6- I know how to beat him, the trouble is just acting on that knowledge, without dying so much.

Heres an easy, almost fool proof method:
1)Get close to him after he jumps (Avoid the shockwaves.) When he swings his axe, the three danger icons show up (On lower difficulties) just dodge up, zoom in, and punch around 10 times (If you miss one, still count to ten.) After that, get out of the way as he will swing his axe downward. Stay within distance as to repeat his jumping sequence. Repeat until he either tries to charge, or until he bites it.

Also some other hints in Level 6 (After trying that stage dozens of times, you kind of get good at this

Charles the III
1) He's as sucker for Red Hot Kick.  when he's in the air not attacking, try to get a little above him. Plant a Red Hot Kick and he will go down. Quickly reach him, Zoom in and punch around 5 times, then get out as he will counter. Repeat until you get crispy bat legs. yum!

Another Joe
Voomorang, if used correctly will give you a leg up. When he does "Henshin-a-go-go baby!" and his clones start circling, get in the air and charge a voomorang. It should take them out in no time if you have a clear shot. When does "Henshin-a-bye-bye!",  try to find the spot where the clones are set. Let loose with the voomorang, and should relieve you from them trying to attack. Hope that helps.

i'm having some major problems with the first part of level 5. after i beat the jet the lava in the sewers toasts me pretty bad. anyone have any suggestions for that part? (i'm stuck in the third room, the part with the flying platforms.)

Pretty much, the key is using your Slow and Mach speed.  Especially that long stretch that relies on drops alone to get you through. If  you do get burned, snuff it out immideatly. Nothing like having 1 heart left, ready to leave, and you forgot your flesh is cooking. I know its kind of vague, but just keep those fingers on the R and L at the ready.

Now my little problem. SPOILERS ahead!

I'm at level 7 and I notice 3 switches that look like you need to zoom in and do shockwaves with. I try to do that at the highest distance, but I as I leave, the switch goes back up. I believe that you need to keep those switches down to go on the next part. What gives?

hope i helped.

now i need help, i beat kids mode but i didnt get the viewtiful world video, where do i find it. i got the australian version , was it cut out.

i can't say for sure, because i have the usa version, but you should go to the options menu and select gallery.  then you'll have options to watch a preview for p.n.03 and the viewtiful world video (if you unlocked it).  if it says "coming soon", you haven't unlocked it.  and if you don't see this at all, something up with the aussie version.

Ok, thanks Djunknown for some of those tips. I'll try em out later, cause episode 6 pisses the piss outta me as well. I just need some more help!
Any of you have tips for countering all of the bosses attacks? I mean, sure, repeating the same way would be cool, but say, for example, with the rhino axe man, missiles rain down and spread fire along the floor. Can you evade them and/or kick them into the rhino, much like the ordinary missles?
And is there an easier way of beating the shark? He's always doing that bite attack, and when he's recharging, i can't get to him in time. IS there also a way of lowering the water level again?

For each of the bosses, are there any visual or audio clues so as to know which attacks are coming (like how meta-ridley in metroid prime always pulls back before he charges at you).

Help for all these bosses would be GREATLY appreciated!

Heh, well yes, there are cues for all of them, which you need to learn.

Hulk Davidson has the easiest pattern to keep up with.  If you keep a decent distance, he will make three jumps, and then throw his axe.  Get him to land near and below one of the side platforms, and he then has a distinct grunt that he makes when he throws the axe.  From the platform, you can slow, jump over the axe's trajectory, and zoom in to knock him with shockwaves.  Then go for the slow-zoom-down+punch until you're close to running out of VFX, and be sure to jump away before your slow runs out to avoid getting hit by the returning axe.

You can repeat this numerous times as long as he's in his jumping pattern, although when he starts shooting missles, you have to focus on those.  The fire bombs are no big deal really.  Just Mach Speed if you catch fire to put the fire out.

Thanks, DJ. A few days ago I actually beat Charless III and Hulk Davidson without losing a single heart, but the shark pissed me off and I decided I was too tired to try anymore.

The most annoying thing about the fire bombs is they force you to stop beating up on Hulk so you can put the fire out, letting him get his axe back or charge at you (which you can't tell most of the time since the camera is so close to Joe).

Well, let Hulk keep his axe, that's when he's easiest...  let him get close to you while he has his axe, he'll try to swing at you 3 times.  Just jump a little or press up on the stick to avoid them.  Then he'll try to charge you, jump over him, then he'll get dizzy as he hits the wall... then beat him senseless.  Rinse and repeat.

Hey, does anyone have any good tips for taking out those electric GUARD things? I'm on The Viewtiful Escape on Adults mode, and I just flipped the sub once. The problem is Joe is thrown in the game RIGHT freaking under the spinning guard. I have NO idea how I got by this part the first time in Kids mode but I am still muttering curses under my breath at those things.

do not slow near them for starters.  They extend their electricity out, then suck it in for a little bit.  That is your time to either jump up and beat the crap out of it (without using any VFX) or run by it.

Oh. I was hoping there was some trick to doing it. I guess there is though because I've become so dependent on Joe's VFX powers and its kinda tricky to stop.

You can also get a critical hit on an enemy and knock them into the guard thingy... that kills them too.

When the sparks are in, you can get them easily with Zoom+jump or just jumping to them, using Fast and beating them to pieces.

You have to use "zoom" and "slow" from the highest platform in order to press the buttons down all the way.  If you use "fast", you will get it up halfway and get a hamburger.
