Australian Release Dates
« on: October 06, 2003, 02:15:37 AM »
I apologise if this topic has been done to death, but i have some question about the topic.
I am wondering where you get your release dates from for Australian Games, other than going down to the shop and looking at them :S
I am in need of a new GCN game until HL2 comes out for PC, and i've narrowed it down to 4.
Ikaruga
F-Zero
MK: DD
Viewtiful Joe

I'm pretty sure Ikaruga and F-Zero are out, but i don't know when the other two come out. I really want Viewtiful Joe but i don't want to wait, because it will likely be a month or longer...
I could buy another game and save up in the meantime, then get VJ when it's out.

Ahh... decisions decisions.

Well if you can help me out with those release dates, then it would be helpful.

(Please don't flame me)
Fin.

ikaruga isn't out here, and won't be coming out here (as far as i know) but you can import it from europe, or even keep an eye on ebay (thats how i got my copy) F-Zero comes out towards the end of this month, ditto for Viewtiful Joe (aswell as Animal Crossing this month) Mario Kart Double Dash!! isn't out until November (not sure of the exact date), Rebel Strike is also at the end of the month or the start of next month, something like that *expects Mario to correct him on dates*

Woo, Animal Crossing and VJ on the same day! Plus I really need a memory card 251, then there's F-Zero on the 24th and other games close to it.

here is a fun fact kiddies, australia is getting the royal screw job across all platforms! err... again!.. i mean constantly!

Quote

40.00 USD
United States Dollars         =         58.0727 AUD
Australia Dollars
1 USD = 1.45182 AUD       1 AUD = 0.688792 USD

source http://www.xe.com

thats right, just under $60 for VJ if we paid the same as america, yet us LUCKY LUCKY australians will end up paying $100 for VJ, all that extra PAL conversion is definatly worth the extra $40 :__;

Yeah, we get the option of playing in 50Htz OR 60Htz. THAT ALONE IS WORTH A BA-JILLION DOLLARS!
If you set VJ on 50Htz, it'll ALWAYS be SLOOOOOOOOOOOOW!

PIAC - Why are you comparing US game prices to Australian game prices? If anything, the pricing of GameCube games in Australia should be based on Japanese game prices, considering NCL is in charge of Nintendo Australia. Most games in Japan are 6,800 yen (about $AU90), and with the 10% goods and services tax in Australia, the RRP of $AU99.95 is justified. Australia isn't getting screwed, the US is getting a better deal than everyone.

they were still 100 before the sales tax came in, so don't give me that line of crap. we get the US version of the game with ocasionally some updates (ie metroid prime) and ofcourse it formatted to PAL, either way we pay alot more than the US does, and i feel somewhat ripped off buy it, and im not blaiming nintendo, im blaiming the entire video game industry, ps2/xbawx/gcn/pc games all come out for around $100.

and yes, i just ran EB and confirmed that VJ is definatly out on the 17th they also said Mario Kart Double Dash!! is out the 14th of November allways good to have some confirmation.

Yeah im a bit worried about that. We'll probably get some crappy deal though, like playable demos of 2 year old games and the same what a rush ad we got with the Zelda bonus disk. YAY! That is if we even get the bonus demo disk at all...

Yeah, for some reason they cut out all the good videos in the PAL Master Quest disc and replaced it with an old US advert featuring OLD games, and videos for MP and Zelda. Hurray! -_-
