I was browsing through the ads in todays paper and I just had to laugh. A $50 pricedrop, down to just a hundred dollars. I have yet to get a Gameboy Advance SP, but hopefully they'll drop in price before Christmas rolls around.
But, back to the GC pricedrop. It's usual for the old to be lowered in price when the new is soon, right? Now I haven't kept up with what the next generation is going to be, or what is the big secret Nintendo has for 2004, but I think it's very exciting to see this slash in price. It begins the process. The first games to roll out were cut too, but the next wave?
Forgive my parallels to Sony's setup, but perhaps it will be like what they have. Two systems, one backwards compatible. Both have games still being made for them. One at the cutting edge of graphics and what-not. It would give the small game-developers a chance to try out their ideas on the 'old' GC, see if they could do it, before jumping onto the 'mothership' of the Nintendo world.
So it would seem that this event might start the change. Heck, over half of you reading this already have a good idea about what is going on already. But to the other millions in the public that don't pay attention to the special details that excite us, before the new system is on the shelve, the drop in price would be sort of a call.
"Hey look us! We here at Nintendo have something import to show you, keep watching, I'm sure you'll like what's coming."
