That just proves the degeneration of today's youth.  Those kids are way too young to be exposed to violent and sexual content.  Blame the games?  Hell no, I blame the parents who will let the kids get the mature-themed games...

I blame the kids for thinking for choosing to reenact what they see in a game. Obviously their parents should keep checks on what they're doing, but it's the kids who end up making the decision to kill people or steal cars or deface buildings or whatever.

Want a job as a sprite or tile artist that pays $0?    I am currently in need of talented artists for a GBA game, and if you have some free style samples, I would love to see them.  I would just like a sample of an animated gif to see if you can handle animation or not.  64x64 pixels in 8 bit color is the most you can have.

You shoulda decked them right then and there. I can't stand blatant Nintendo bashing like that, especially at a Nintendo event.

Well, thing is, even with the gamecube money, you STILL wouldn't be able to afford a Xbox (by itself). Hahaha.
And THAT's the truth.

Personally, I don't see the similarity with DOS.  DOS never gave me the power that the GBA does.  Once I started programming for the GBA, I just fell in love with the hardware.  I just can't imagine a better system to make 2D games on.

I'm really going to miss the GBA once it's gone.  I think it was GBAGuy who said that the GBA would probably be the last console EVER in which it would be worthwhile to program in assembly.  It might very well be the last console ever where one man working alone can make a really good game as well.

We should really value the GBA while it's here, as I think it's very likely that we are seeing the end of a generation with the GBA.  We may never see such times again.

They are actually pretty much equivalent in "power"(386/486 anyway). The correlation is drawn in that both DOS and GBA allow (and even require) low-level work. And they are most certainly similar to program. (when I say DOS I'm more referring to the hardware, which wasn't blocked as it is today).

Well you can still benefit from programming in Assembly on today's computers (SSE/SSE2).  I also can't think of any games that have come out in recent years, that were any good AND made by one person.

This is I agree with...  It will, if nothing else, herald dark times for 2D games. But then again, maybe not.

I've never been a "cult fan" of any system. I remember during the NES days and onwards when gamers really didn't care about system rivalry, they cared about the games. Gamers back then didn't separate themselves into camps and fling mud at the other consoles...it's like today we have PARTISAN GAMING. What the hell is with that?  What's sad is today so many gamers feel as if their game system defines their worth as a person, like it's directly affiliated with their ego or something...heaven forbid someone talks smack about my (__insert system name here__).

I buy every system each generation. This generation was especially incredible, from the Dreamcast to the current triad of systems. Look at the hardware pushing our games these days...it's really amazing! I appreciate the competition among hardware manufacturers...it drives innovation and gaming to new heights. That's the great thing about market capitalism. Shame on those who pooh-pooh the Cube VS Xbox jockeying for #2. Is it better to have a single company shape the gaming landscape according to IT'S vision, as opposed to the demands of the consumer market? No! I'm having the best gaming experiences of my life these days, in fact, there's just TOO many great games coming out on all the systems that I simply don't have time for them all anymore, and that's really something in my eyes.

I bought 67 games this year so far for all 3 systems. Call me a cult fan of gaming...period! Best of luck to Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony, and here's to looking to next generation! Bring it on!
