« on: September 15, 2003, 07:00:36 PM »
I think we have been putting alot of atention on f-zero and soul SC2,(two of the most amazing games of the year) but Iwould like to take the time and remind all about the new SSX game from easportsbig. Ive been a fan since the original, and have played the sequel to death, so after about 2 years or so i finely get one of the games ive been waitng for(ive also been waiting for f-zero and a Aggrissive inline sequel)I hope ive ignited some thought on the game, so check it out at ign or at easports.com. SO quit wasting time reading the rest of my post and check it out! Some one got some news or some more info post it please.
I need to pray about it

Yeppo, SSX3 looks bloody amazing. I think it gets the edge on 1080 in regards to release dates, but I have a feeling 1080 will sell better on GameCube.

Both are amazing looking games. Both games are set on huge mountains, this time, too. SSX3 will give you the chance to board down the ENTIRE mountain side in a freerun type mode, which will take over half an hour of solid snowboarding. Nice.

Very nice! I cant wait for this game! I might get it on PS2 though, depending on if the Cube gets a solid 'port' or not.

Unless 1080 Avalanche turns out better...

I got to play a bit of SSX 3 today.  It feels really good.  There's a new focus on exploration, as you need to navigate your way down the mountain to find the various events you can compete in, as well as finding hidden snowflakes and whatnot.  I'll try to get more thorough impressions written up later, but as it stands, I'll take SSX 3 over 1080 Avalanche anyday.

What?!  Ok, I haven't played SSX3 since E3, but my vote is w/ Avalanche.

Still, I would like to know more about the "exploration" idea.  That sounds interesting to me.  The only track in the original SSX that I liked was called "untracked."  This could be promising.

I'm pretty interested in SSX3's upgrade to the whole friend/enemy thing that Tricky had going, too. If you kept knocking someone down, they eventually began to hate you, and go out of their way to make your life hell. They'd diss you before the race and so on. While your friends would sometimes go out of their way to knock down your enemies in the race (Never really worked.... DAMN YOU, KAORI!)
A small little novelty feature, but it was pretty cool.

I watched the trailers for both SSX 3 and 1080 last night.

I remember when watching the SSX 3 trailer, I laughed out loud when I saw the avalanche.  It just struck me as funny that EA was copying Nintendo.  But the more I watched, the more I started to feel that the game would be an AWESOME sequel to my favorite sports game to date.

When watching the 1080 trailer, I was impressed and all... but not in the sense that SSX 3 impressed me.  1080 was going for a more realistic feel, which I really didn't appreciate so much.

I just find this absurd.  EA is making the game that's going to be FUN, and Nintendo is making the game that's realistic.  WTF is wrong with this picture guys?

Both games look great, but it seems I won't be able to get either this year...Bah!

(I like the differences between 1080 and SSX3...If they were both the same I wouldn't have an excuse to get both of them )

It seems SSX3 takes place more in the "atmosphere" than on the actual mountain.

It seems 1080 keeps you in fair proximity with the ground, where obstacles matter and all.
