No game in the case! Oh snap!
« on: August 27, 2003, 05:49:28 AM »
Well sirs, I bought a game at GameStop the other day, Inuyasha's Yiffy Fighting Game or whatever, freshly shrinkwrapped, labeled new. I open it up and gosh darn, there's no game inside! This ever happen to you guys?

I'm gonna take it back today when I pick up my SC2, along with the receipt and the label on the wrap, in case it was a display only case or something. I wonder if they're going to think I pulled a fast one. :S

Haha, sorry.  Never happened to me.  But I 'spect it was just an accident.  But just in case it wasn't, you should take some weapons of mass destruction as back up.

Having worked at the 'stop, i can tell you that it was likely a mistake, and it happens. It's best if you go back the same day though.

When you buy a "new" game from, well, anywhere, make sure that the shrinkwrap along the top is folded in on the top and bottom. If it's not and it has a rough edge to it, it's something they wrapped themselves.

Consider you bought the game the "other day", they're very cool. Glad you didn't have any problems getting your game.

I have a trench coat that I can easily conceal my sword underneath.

Once I had, a little game

Well the guys I got Metroid Fusion from was pretty cool. Initially I had brought Perfect Dark Color, which by thw way is a horrible game and since it was used and all I had asked for a discount on the price and they gave me one.

Since Perfect Dark Color sucked so much and that I actually went through the trouble of finishing the game so I could hook it up to the N64 counter part to unlock those unforgiving cheats. I returned the next day to exchange the game for something else.

They were happy to give me a full refund on PDC and I paid the difference for Metroid Fusion and I was off.

Nice bunch. I have been trying to get a job there for ages. Oh well.

It is funny though with all those stories about customers getting pushed around and what not since 99% of the time simply asking nicely will get you very far. I also would not be suprise if have of those people that have complained had become overly angry and the staff had given up on them.

I've never had the ol' 'No game in case' trick, but when I bought The Sims on PlayStation2 (don't ask, really), I came home to discover a WONDERFUL copy of Sim City 2000 in there, for the PC. MMMM.

But I bought it from K-Mart, where they love to tear the shrink-wrap off, throw the discs under the counter, and sell you game boxes that have been picked up by hundreds of fat sweaty kids that have a saliva problem.

Just goes to show, you shouldn't hire old ladies and toss them into the audio-visual department.

I remember when I bought Vagrant Story at Wal*Mart years ago when the game came out, they actually removed the shrink wrap and looked inside the case because there had been problems where people were coming back saying there was no game in the case.

K-Mart is the worst place to get games, EVER. They still jack games up to ridiculous prices here :S

You must have a little black rain cloud following you around.  Either that or it's some perverted conspiracy out to cheat you.

Street Fighter Alpha?! I've got that poo, watched it the grand total of three times. Second and third were to try and spot exactly where I think they went wrong with it. I ended up solving my own mystery, it all went pear shaped from the very beginning.

I've never had a problem with DAD, and I've ordered from them 3 times.  Guess it all adds up to bad luck.
